I provide clients with knowledge and understanding of what we are doing, what can happen, and what is most likely to happen. Essentially, a lot of time is taken at outset to inform and educate them in the solution being proposed, warts and all. This means people don’t tend to worry about their portfolios because they know they are in safe hands. With all the other stresses in life, this is something you cannot put a price on, particularly in retirement.

You can find out more about the importance of communication on my website, and get in touch if you’re at all worried about your financial arrangements.

Communication is the key The Spectrum IFA Group Rather than trying to predict, it is best to simply be prepared

There’s a lot of talk about Spain’s bold move to “regularise” undocumented migrants and give them a chance to become correctly registered. It could help UK nationals that have overstayed their 90 days period whilst working in Spain. However, the application period is short, and if you are planning to submit an application, you only have just over a month to get it in.

Here’s a really good article from Age in Spain explaining it all.

This process is not for people who already have legal residency The 2026 extraordinary regularisation is specifically for people currently living in Spain without a valid residence permit. If you already hold a TIE, NIE with residency rights, or any form of valid authorisation, you are not eligible....

A: With any products like this that I offer my clients, one of the requirements is that the provider has a fiscal representation in Spain. What that means is they are responsible for the tax due when you take some money from your policy, and this is paid directly to the Hacienda by them. The certificate you will have received at the end of the year is all you need to give to your accountant here, to show there is nothing further to do.

Traditionally, Spain has been thought of a retirement destination for Brits, but post Brexit and COVID, the profile has really changed. New analysis by global employment specialist Agility EOR found that British migration to Spain is now driven more by professionals under 45 than by retirees. This is particularly the case in cities, but even on the Costa del Sol we’re definitely seeing this change.

Remote working and digital nomad visas have really made a difference, and the desire to have a better life for their kids is pushing British families and a huge number of families of other nationalities to make the move over permanently.

For decades, the image of British expats in Spain revolved around retirees settling along the Costa del Sol or Costa Blanca. That picture is changing.

🤝 The British Chamber of Commerce in Spain has an active presence on the Costa del Sol, providing networking opportunities and supporting trade relations between British and Spanish companies in the region.
🤝 We regularly attend their networking meetings, and were delighted to attend one last month in collaboration with Nockolds Lawyers Spain at La Sala, Puerto Banus.
🤝 Their next event is the Andalucia Real Estate Forum on May 21st and they also have a Private Investor Evening on June 2nd. As you can see, they are very active, and it’s an excellent way for businesses to build their network across Spain and the UK.

𝗧𝗮𝘅 𝗕𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗸𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗢𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝟲𝟱𝘀

Did you know that people over 65 can sell assets or investments up to €240,000 without capital gains tax in one tax year, provided proceeds are reinvested into a life annuity? Another piece of good news for anyone living in Spain over 65 is that selling your primary residence after age 65 incurs no capital gains tax, even without purchasing another property, subject to conditions.

🚗 Chiclana de la Frontera is one of our favourite destinations for a short break with the family.
🏖️ It offers a complete change of pace and scenery within an easy drive of Marbella. The beaches are another level, and you can find authentic Andalusian flavours and culture, as well as beautiful nature near to the coast.
🏄 Here are a few pictures from our most recent getaway in Chiclana when the boys tried their hand at surfing.

A common question I’m asked is how much does it cost to live in Spain, and could my pension go further?

Now of course, it depends where in Spain you live and what your lifestyle is like, but overall, the cost of living in Spain is generally lower than many parts of the UK and North America. I wanted to share this interesting analysis from International Living about the cost of living in Spain to help you dig down a bit further into this topic. The article has been written with a US audience in mind, so uses dollars, but gives a lot of useful information about many different aspects of life in Spain.

The cost of living in Spain is one of the lowest in Western Europe, here we give you an in-depth breakdown of the cost of living for you...

The filing window is now open to declare your personal income tax in Spain for 2025. You have until the 30th of June to submit it and pay the taxes due. However, it is possible to pay 60% of the tax due in June and the balance in November and there is no interest charged on this option.

We have a list of all the main Spanish tax forms, what they are and when they have to be completed in our free guide.
