With the federal tax deadline approaching tomorrow, a lot of people have been asking me for help with filing their personal taxes. I'm not a a CPA (certified public accountant) or licensed tax preparer (the people you meet at places like H&R Block), so I don't file taxes for others. So, you might be wondering: "Okay, Aaron, so what do you do? Glad you asked!

Although I started The Accountable Artist in 2019, the business had been in the works for much longer than that. For years, I had been informally helping my musician friends with accounting-related questions as well as maintaining the bookkeeping for my wife's photography business ( on Instagram), but I didn't think about turning this small operation into something larger. Speaking of my wife - she was the first person to encourage me to turn my years of experience in the creative and accounting worlds into the business that is now The Accountable Artist.

Mica and I met in 2012 on a blind date that we set up on Ok Cupid. I had done the online dating thing for a while, but I remember our date being much different than any other date that I had been on - we laughed a lot, and I instantly felt comfortable around her. After years of dating, we finally married on this day in 2018.

Today, Mica continues to be my biggest supporter and source of inspiration. When we vacationed in Spain in 2019, we celebrated our 1-year anniversary at Restaurante Botín in Madrid (the world's oldest restaurant). I remember us talking about our future plans, and I said that I should start an online accounting course for creatives. Fast forward to today, and that dream is almost a reality (the course will launch in a few weeks!). I couldn't have done it with you, Mica! So, happy anniversary, and I can't wait to spend many more years with you!

The finishing touches on the pre-production of my online accounting course for creatives are complete, and in 2 weeks, I'll be filming the course with the help of my friends, Skyler Frost and Charles Bradbury of Content Pump Productions. Skyler and Charles are 2 talented young filmmakers (pictured here working in 2019) who provide "affordable, efficient, and accessible" videography services for businesses in Austin. I've worked with them in the past for my band and am excited to be working with them again for the next chapter in my business evolution!

My parents recently moved to a new house, and in the process of unpacking, my mom found a motivational picture book that I made when I was a little kid called "Vitaminds." Apparently I was giving out business advice even when I was 6! I also see that my love of visual puns goes back a long way as well.

My wife (food photographer, on Instagram) took some great new pictures of me. My hair is getting a little scruffy, but when it comes to helping creatives under their money, I'm as organized as ever!
