It looks like my Harris Insurance page has been hijacked by different sites and groups 😁

I haven't had time to keep it updated unfortunately, because this last year been one of the busiest times I can remember and I'm in need of a long rest - which is just as well, because if you didn't already know, well, read on, this is what I sent to all my clients last week.....

This is an email with a difference, because I would like to inform you that next week, with effect from 23rd July, after 49 years in the insurance industry, the time has come for me to hang up my rating guides and retire.

I have mixed feelings, because it’s been a long and interesting career and I’ve been lucky to enjoy my work, mainly down to having had the nicest customers one could wish for and as an exclusive agent, having the strength of a major insurer backing me in the form of Generali, previously Liberty of course.

I am really pleased to say that I have met the people who will be taking over the administration of your policies and they are very nice girls, with an office not too far from mine.

They have many years of experience in this field, speak perfect English and will look after your insurance needs admirably, I’m very sure of that.

As of September 29th next month, new laws regarding animals come into force. Among them is the need for all dog owners to have liability insurance cover for their pet.

If you already have a home insurance policy that I have arranged for you with Liberty Seguros and you own a dog that is not classed as dangerous here in Spain, you will have this liability cover included, but you will need to add the dog's details onto the schedule of insurance.

You must contact Harris Insurance and let me have the name, breed and chip number of your dog and I will add an endorsement to your policy free of charge.

If you don't have home insurance and would like a stand alone liability for your pet, or if the dog is on the dangerous dog list, then ask me for a quotation for such a policy.

You don't have to be a homeowner either. If you are a tenant, without insurance at the moment, ask me for a quotation for a simple basic contents insurance, for not much more cost than just the liability cover.

It will not only provide the liability cover you need for your dog, but give you peace of mind with an insurance you haven't had in place before.

After Alan’s personal experience of the vaccination plan, that is gathering momentum in Andalucia now, it may help to put out a few bits of information that people in our local area may find useful.

The over 80’s have now nearly all been vaccinated apparently and they are asking anyone over 80 years old, or knows of somebody over 80 years old, who has not had a vaccination, to get in touch with local health centres. If you are in Estepona municipality, then you should call 689 31 32 76 or 609 80 98 53 and let them know and they will arrange an appointment.

As Spain is not giving the AstraZeneca vaccine to over 65’s, they have began to vaccinate the 65 to 55 age group with it , starting with those born in 1956 and Alan went for his first one yesterday.

He says: ”I was called on our fixed line the day before to tell me that I had an appointment the next morning at La Lobilla health centre in Estepona. Arriving 5 minutes early it was a little chaotic outside, to say the least. Impossible to park in their car park, I managed to get somewhere just a minute’s walk away, so give yourself plenty of time when it’s your turn.

Although there were dozens of people outside, the actual queue at the front door was only 5 or 6 long, so I saw the nurse quickly, gave her my name and she marked it off her list and sent me round the side of the building to the back entrance. Again there was a large crowd of people milling around, but a quick chat with someone told me that most of them had been vaccinated already and were hanging around for the recommended 15 minutes afterwards.

A nurse pops her head out of the open door at the top of the steps every five minutes or so and calls a few names, so try and position yourself near the entrance up the steps and you won’t miss it that way. Once my name was called, I went straight in and sat down in a small room, one nurse was sat at a computer and the other prepared and administered the jab, which I only realised had been done when she slapped a wad of cotton wool over the site and held it with a plaster.

She asked if I had my second appointment and when I told her no, the computer came up with a date in June and that was it. I was told to wait outside for 15 minutes and if I felt OK after that to go home. Very easy and as anybody who has been to outpatients at the Costa del Sol hospital will know, although it looks like nobody knows what’s going on in a busy waiting room, the system runs like clockwork.

No ill effects, although during the night my arm ached at the vaccination site and I had a bit of a headache, but a paracetamol later I’m right as rain. Hope my experience helps you to know what to expect, even if you don’t speak any Spanish.”

Apparently there has been another delivery of the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines, so the timetable for vaccinating the 79 to 66 years group has been brought forward and they have now started calling in those people who were born in 1942 and 1943, as well as the 65 to 55 group.

IMPORTANT NEWS FOR THOSE WITH PRIVATE HEALTH INSURANCE AND NOT IN THE SPANISH SOCIAL SECURITY SYSTEM: It is important that to be included in the vaccination process, you must be registered in the Andalucia Public Health System database.

Some people - generally foreigners - may not be registered in the system when using private healthcare providers and have not received prior care in the Andalusian Public Health System.

In this case, it is necessary to request inclusion in the database in order to join the vaccination process against COVID-19, without this implying the right to other public health benefits.

In order to do this, you should complete the simple form below and deliver it to a health centre. If you are doing this yourself, just ignore the section “Datos de la Persona Representante Legal”.

Hope this gives a bit of an insight into what can be a confusing current situation.

The Liberty Seguros Spring campaign for all of you to earn cashback is underway and what a response there has been in the first week or so!

Now listen to this . . . Here's a tip that I can share with you that will make you say to yourself "That's not possible!"

A new customer this week (yes, a few people who will read this are still not saving themselves money by having a Liberty policy, if you can believe that 😮) was happy with a quotation we gave her for a motor insurance policy that was coming up for renewal. What's more, it qualified for 30 € cashback in the promotion, but what we did will bring joy into her life and she will now love Liberty and ourselves forever 😁

We suggested that she took an incredibly cheap life insurance policy first, for an insured sum of just enough money to cover her funeral expenses and a party for her friends after it - not that she insisted she was going anywhere for a long time she hoped, but she had asked earlier about a funeral insurance, as many of us do, so as not to trouble financially our surviving loved ones.

And this is what happened. The annual premium that she paid for her life cover (she is 55 years old) for a sum insured of 6.000 € was approximately 30 €. She then immediately took out the motor policy, which she had already agreed to as she liked the price, but now it was even cheaper, because she had her new life insurance, as you get a discount from Liberty for taking a second policy,

This in turn meant that she qualified, not for 30 € cashback as a new client, but she now receives 60 € for being an existing customer, as you see from the poster.

So she went away happy that
a, not only will she benefit from her cashback, but
b, this means in real terms that she now has a life insurance policy that effectively has cost her nothing and
c, her motor policy is even cheaper too!!
