New fonts: Horizontype!

Let’s be honest—other typefaces cheat. Their rounded letterforms require optical correction: they are slightly larger to appear the same size as their straight neighbours. Horizontype is honest type; it has no need for such subterfuge. The design has no overshoots.

No curve dips below the baseline or extends above the x-height or cap height. Its characters sit confidently between the horizontal lines that define their size, lending the design its distinct personality. What makes Horizontype unique, though, is that its inner shapes don’t follow this logic. Round counters exert pressure against steadfast straight tops and bottoms that refuse to buckle. This duality creates a captivating tension, reinforcing the design’s horizontal nature and propelling the eye along the lines of text.

Horizontype’s cuts are not just at the tops and bottoms of the letters. The exterior ends of diagonals and terminals are also clipped, the intersections between diagonals cut flat, and even the punctuation signs have flat tops and bottoms, thus ensuring optimal consistency in the design.

Strong and mechanical, Horizontype communicates with conviction. Use it to convey your message in a straightforward, direct manner, with a subtle twist.
