The wait is over. It’s time to put it to the test.

For the first time, EdVentures is bringing the Testbed experience to our Cohort 3 startups from the Mastercard Foundation EdTech Fellowship.

A space where assumptions meet real users, and real products meet real feedback.

Run by Carnegie Mellon University (CMU), the Testbed will give founders the opportunity to see how users actually interact with their products, uncover what works, what doesn’t, and what they may need to rethink.

Because building a great product isn’t just about what you create.

It’s about understanding who you’re creating it for.

Our first Testbed is here. Let’s put it to the test.

EUI Launches Gen AI for Education Hackathon, Startup Competition 2026

Egypt University of Informatics (EUI) is organizing Gen AI for Education Hackathon and Startup Competition 2026, under the auspices of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT). The Hackathon is held by EUI’s Entrepreneurship and Innovation Center, in cooperation with several partners, including Telecom Egypt, Intel, EdVentures, and Keheilan Asset Management (KAM), alongside the Horizon Europe-funded Gen AI for Africa (GAINAfrica) project.

The hackathon features two tracks. The Student Track is dedicated to Egyptian university students and graduates; they will compete in teams of three to five members to develop educational prototypes using Gen AI. The Startup Track is open to registered EdTech startups, with teams of two to four members competing to leverage Gen AI to enhance their existing products or create innovative Gen AI-driven educational tools.

Challenge themes include “AI Tutor,” which focuses on personalized, multilingual tutoring systems in science, technology, and entrepreneurship courses; “Assessment Revolution,” highlighting adaptive assessment and feedback tools; “Content Creator,” targeting the production of educational content in Arabic and other African languages; “Accessibility and Inclusion,” dedicated to leveraging Gen AI solutions to support students with disabilities or those in low-connectivity environments; and “Open Challenge,” providing an opportunity to develop a Gen AI application in education beyond the aforementioned themes.

The hackathon program includes a series of technical workshops and online training sessions.

To introduce the hackathon, EUI is organizing a webinar on August 23 at 6:00 PM. It will outline the challenge areas, details of the Student and Startup Tracks, training sessions, timeline, application process, expected outcomes, and Demo Day.
