* What is the Design Criteria ?
The design proposals should indicate a respect for the sustainable building process, including the vision of sustaining heritage as it calls for the natural, social, economic, local informal political, cultural, and built environment of the context. Specially utilizing local building materials and resources, energy efficiency of building designs and landscape, respect to natural settings and rich view of the place, innovative ideas, and creativity of solutions. The project should reflect the real meaning of sustainable context, that combining between sustaining the authenticity of Saint Catherine context and contemporary lifestyle. Keeping the goal of providing designs and solutions for building this micro community with Minimum Cost and maximum efficiency of spaces indoor and outdoor.
The project is looking to transform the selected site to a prototype for using a “Sustainable Building Process” in a world heritage site. Accordingly, the design proposals should be all constructed from local materials, and sustainable energy. Moreover, the designs should be suitable for the local lifestyle in Saint Catherine, and reflecting the contemporary advanced techniques and methods of earthen Architecture.
Furthermore, the design proposals should use the 9 steps of Enneagram methodology to understand the main characteristics and differences of the personalities, behaviours and mindsets of the clients in order to provide a suitable interaction between the user and the architectural product through different scales.
