‘Venture Fund of the Year 2023’

Tuesday, Febuary 6th, it was time for this year’s ‘Topmøde for Aktive Ejere’, an award show that Aktive Ejere has hosted ever since the association was formed. Who doesn’t like a great award show?

… well, we do, especially yesterday when they announced the winner in the ‘Venture Fund of the Year’ category. And you might know where this is going. You’ve seen the picture above, and who in history would make a post like this if they were not the winner?

We’re so excited and proud about this one and look forward to continuing the journey of helping more startups succeed.

In 2019, Stina joined Sani Nudge as a student worker. After finishing her Master’s Degree, she transitioned into a new position as their Head of Service and UX, dedicated to improving the products and services. 
 
“I have been part of the Sani Nudge journey from when we first started developing the software platform to today, where we are installed in more than eight countries.”

Every year, patients die from hospital-acquired infections that could have been prevented by better hand hygiene. Sani Nudge works with healthcare staff to help them improve their hand hygiene by providing data insights about their hand hygiene routines.

“It is so rewarding to open our data dashboard and see that our customers have improved their hand hygiene and know that they have prevented patient infections.”

Nearly three years ago, Carlen moved from the US to Denmark, and she learned that the SaaS world here had some quite interesting opportunities. And earlier this year, she entered the VP of Customer Success role at Sentispec.

“Aside from the computer vision and AI behind the products themselves, the most interesting and challenging thing about Sentispec is that there aren’t really any 1:1 competitors, and that was what first grabbed my attention. It was really appealing to me to be part of something at the forefront of logistics and to bring real innovation to one of the oldest industries.”

Let's go back in time to 2021. Jakob studied at DTU and had a job at a large tax consultancy. It was good, but he dreamt of something else. One day, one of his friends working with Next11 Technologies said they were looking for someone with the same skills as him and who may have an interest in football. That was Jakob.

"I find it exciting to come to work every day and watch the company grow, and I appreciate the company culture so much."

Next11 democratizes sports tracking by making physical tracking available to more clubs because of a lower price point. The product rethinks how the tracking should be done by measuring accelerations directly on the leg, i.e. where the physical load is happening.

"I am very proud of some of the features and improvements I have developed, and it is very satisfying to see them come to use and hear that users like them. However, seeing our team grow is the most rewarding feeling"

After practising as a medical doctor for years, Mandela joined BYON8 in 2021 as their Chief Medical Officer. He has experience working with health innovation, and his mission is to work with key players in the sector to push innovative data-driven concepts into practical solutions in the healthcare space.

“With technology, we can enable scalable and sustainable solutions that bring care closer to patients and allow them to take ownership of their own care. Joining BYON8, I still believe technology is part of a larger ecosystem that can shape the future of healthcare for the better.”

She started working as an Apparel Developer, turning designers' dreams into reality. Along the way, the team wanted to dive deeper into materials and test fabrics in-house, and Diana was all in.

"SON is like, "Hey, let's get real about fashion." It's not just about convincing you, me, and the neighbour; it's about shaking up the big shots in the fashion game."

Son of a Tailor is on a mission to prove there's a smarter way of working in the clothing industry. Why? Because it overuses and overproduces, meaning lots of wasted resources and clothes that don't fit and aren't worn.

"Imagine clothes that feel like they were made just for you because, well, they were. We're not the biggest players in the industry, but we're throwing down the gauntlet, saying, "Look, it's doable, and it's the future of fashion." And you know what? If others start copying our groove, we're cool with that, the more, the merrier in sustainable fashion.

“I learned to code through YouTube and online forums” 
–Christian Nørgaard Madsen

Christian has founded two companies: a time-tracking web app for custom time trackers tailored to part-time employees across different job types and different seniority levels and a company developing websites for all sizes of companies. In 2020, he moved from Jutland to Copenhagen to join MXNEY.io as their CTO.

“Mads, the founder of MXNEY, invested in one of my companies. This led me to help him with the company that he just founded, MXNEY. In March 2020, I visited him in Copenhagen for a few days, and when I was about to return to Jutland, the country closed down. Corona.”

So there he was, stuck with Mads in his apartment, sleeping on a yoga mattress in his living room for three weeks.

“We worked day and night on the MXNEY platform, and when I finally returned to Jutland, I realized the potential of that new company.”

A few months later, when he graduated from high school, he packed his backpack and moved to Copenhagen to join the company full-time.
