June is the perfect time for a mid-year financial review.

With half of the year already behind us, this is the right moment to step back and evaluate where your business stands.

A mid-year financial review helps you look beyond day-to-day operations and evaluate the bigger picture:
🔹 Are your budgets still realistic?
🔹 Is your cash flow healthy?
🔹 Have your costs changed?
🔹 Are your financial goals still aligned with reality?

The companies that review and adjust now are usually the ones that finish the year stronger and with fewer surprises.

📩 Need support with your mid-year financial review?

For many businesses in Denmark, June means one thing: the Q1 VAT deadline is approaching. 📑

Missing the deadline can lead to fines, interest charges, and unnecessary stress, especially when operating across different countries and systems.

If your company submits VAT quarterly in Denmark, now is the time to:

→ review your invoices and expenses
→ double-check documentation
→ prepare and submit your VAT report on time

At Baltic Business House, we help businesses navigate Danish accounting and tax requirements with clarity and confidence.

Because staying compliant should support your growth, not slow it down.

Opening a business in Denmark is not just about registration, it is about preparation.

Many foreign companies underestimate how many compliance areas need to be aligned before work even begins.

From RUT registration and work permits to social security, VAT, transfer pricing, employment conditions, and safety regulations, the Danish system expects structure from day one.

And the biggest risks often appear in areas companies do not initially think about:

→ who has instruction authority on-site
→ where profit should remain
→ whether employees are correctly insured
→ if salaries follow collective agreements
→ or whether documentation can actually be presented during inspections

In Denmark, even small setup mistakes can lead to fines, tax exposure, or operational delays. That is why entering the Danish market is not just a legal formality. It is an operational and financial setup process that needs to be done correctly from the start.

At Baltic Business House, we help foreign companies understand what is required before problems appear.

📩 Planning to operate in Denmark? Let’s make sure your setup is ready.

Think transfer pricing only matters for large corporations? Think again. 🚫

For many businesses operating in Denmark, transfer pricing (TP) becomes relevant much earlier than expected.

If there are related parties, there is usually transfer pricing. And that includes more than just corporate groups.

It can apply to:
🔹 companies with the same shareholder
🔹 company and shareholder relationships
🔹 loans between related parties
🔹 management fees or internal services
🔹 and even Danish branches of foreign companies

One of the biggest misconceptions we see is this “If there are no internal invoices, TP does not apply.” In Denmark, that is not always true.

If a foreign company operates through a Danish branch, SKAT may still expect part of the profit to remain in Denmark, even if there are no formal internal transactions. These are known as “deemed transactions”.

And this is where the real risk begins.
Poorly structured TP setups can lead to profit adjustments, additional taxes and interest and penalties reaching 250,000 DKK.

That is why TP is no longer just a “big company topic”. For many smaller businesses and branches, it has become a real compliance and tax risk area too.

📩 If you are unsure whether TP applies to your structure, the Baltic Business House team is here to help.

New Danish tax ruling. Could it affect your international tax setup? 🇩🇰

A recent ruling from the Danish Tax Appeals Board (Landsskatteretten) clarifies that foreign tax relief must be calculated under international joint taxation (sambeskatning). That means foreign tax relief must be assessed for each profitable foreign entity separately, not based on the combined results of all foreign operations.

Losses in one country cannot automatically reduce or influence the tax relief linked to profitable entities in another.

For businesses with subsidiaries, branches, or permanent establishments abroad, this can directly impact the final tax position in Denmark.

If your business uses or is considering international joint taxation, now is a good time to reassess your setup. What may have looked efficient on paper can now require a more detailed, entity-by-entity review.

📩 Need support reviewing your structure?

When was the last time you reviewed your financials in line with how your business operates today? 👀

Now is a good time to step back and review your financial records in the context of how your business is actually operating. If your model has evolved, your financial statements should reflect that reality and remain aligned with current regulatory requirements.

Use this moment to reassess your financial forecasts as well.

Are your budgets and cash flow projections still supporting your direction, or are they based on assumptions that no longer apply?

A timely, strategic review today ensures stability, clarity, and fewer surprises tomorrow. 💡

Which Danish institution corresponds to the Lithuanian one?

While many are familiar with how things work in Lithuania, the Danish system can feel confusing at first. The structure is similar, but the names, responsibilities, and processes differ.

Most Lithuanian institutions have their counterparts in Denmark across tax, social security, labour, and migration. The challenge is understanding how these roles translate locally.

To make it easier, we have prepared a visual showing the Lithuanian institutions and their equivalents in Denmark.

⬇️ Take a look and save it for later, it will come in handy.

Are you actually ready for Q2?

A new quarter does not just bring new goals, it reflects how well you prepared in the previous one.

Before things start moving faster, it is worth taking a step back and evaluating where your business stands today:

🔹 Review your financials. Are your budget, cash flow, and tax filings up to date?
🔹 Set clear priorities. Does your team know what matters most this quarter?
🔹 Check compliance. Are your contracts and documentation in order?
🔹 Look at your operations. Where can you save time or reduce costs?
🔹 And do not forget your clients. Are you aligned on what comes next?

Q2 tends to move fast, and businesses that take the time to prepare now are the ones that avoid challenges later.

If you need support reviewing your setup or preparing for the quarter ahead, the Baltic Business House team is here to help.
