As part of the About Pop Festival & Convention 2026 (June 12-13), "About Next" will take place on June 13 – a sub-conference bringing together the creative industries, start-ups, technology, and innovation. 🚀

"About Next" creates space for exchange, new collaborations, and fresh impulses between the creative scene, businesses, and the public sector. Expect panels, talks, workshops, and best-practice formats on current topics such as new business models, digital sovereignty, community building, and sustainable cultural work.

The Institute of Immersive Media (IIM), in partnership with Netflix, has announced the new edition of its "Women in Virtual Production Training Programme". 🚀

The Training Programme is designed to equip women already working in areas such as cinematography, VFX, animation and related disciplines with the skills and knowledge to apply their expertise in virtual production environments.

📣 At the Stuttgart Festival of Animated Film (ITFS) 2026 Award Ceremony on Saturday evening, six film awards and one project award were presented across the various competition categories.

The 🔸 ITFS International Competition Grand Prix (sponsored by the State of Baden-Württemberg and Stuttgart - meine Stadt) went to WITH TAPES AND TOASTS IN THE CAR by Stuttgart-based filmmaker Kiana Naghshineh, a graduate of Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg’s Animationsinstitut. The award automatically qualifies the film for the Academy Awards. The French-German co-production additionally received the 🔸 Audience Award, sponsored by SWR.

🔸 SENSUAL, the diploma film of Tanja Nuijten, also a graduate of Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg’s Animationsinstitut, recieved a Special Mention at the Lotte Reiniger Promotion Award, sponsored by MFG Filmförderung Baden-Württemberg.
