Consistency beats timing. Always.

An ETF savings plan is one of the simplest and most effective ways to build long-term wealth especially if you’re living abroad and want flexibility.

Here’s why it works:
• You invest regularly instead of trying to time the market
• You benefit from cost averaging over time
• You stay globally diversified with low costs
• You build wealth step by step without needing a large upfront amount

The key is not how much you start with. It’s how consistently you keep going.

Start with an amount that feels comfortable and increase it as your income grows.

Simple strategy. Strong results.

Building a life in a new country comes with enough uncertainty already. Your finances shouldn’t add to it.

If you’re an expat in Germany, one of the smartest moves you can make is building a safety net of 3–6x your monthly expenses.

Why it matters:
• Job changes can happen faster than expected
• Visa situations can shift
• Unexpected costs always show up when you least expect them

A solid emergency fund gives you flexibility, confidence, and real freedom to make decisions without pressure.

Start small if needed, but start now. Your future self will thank you.

“Anmeldung” — your first real step in Germany.

Before bank accounts, before health insurance, before almost anything else… there’s one thing you need to do first: register your address.

Without your Anmeldung:
• You can’t get your tax ID
• Opening a bank account becomes difficult
• Setting up contracts (internet, phone, etc.) is often not possible

It might feel like just paperwork, but it’s the foundation for your entire life here.

Our tip:
Book your appointment as early as possible and bring all required documents to avoid delays.

Getting this step right saves you time, stress, and a lot of back and forth later.

Welcome to Germany let’s do it properly from day one.

5 financial mistakes almost every expat makes in Germany 🇩🇪💸

Swipe through to see if you're making any of them, and how to fix it 👉

❌ Mistake #1: No emergency fund → Without 3–6 months of expenses saved, one unexpected bill can derail everything.

❌ Mistake #2: Ignoring the pension gap → Germany's state pension covers only ~48% of your last salary. The rest? That's on you.

❌ Mistake #3: Wrong insurance setup → GKV or PKV? Liability? BU? Many expats are either over-insured or dangerously under-insured.

❌ Mistake #4: Not using your Freistellungsauftrag → You get €1,000/year tax-free on capital gains. If you don't file it with your bank, you're giving money away.

❌ Mistake #5: Skipping your tax return → The average refund in Germany is over €1,000. Most expats leave it on the table.

Don't let these mistakes cost you thousands.

Did you know that in 35 years, your money will only have half the value that it has today?

Inflation doesn’t ask for permission. It quietly erodes your wealth over time.

If your money is sitting still, it’s actually moving backwards.

For expats in Germany, this creates a unique challenge:
Different systems, unfamiliar options, and often no clear strategy to protect what you’ve built.

The key question is simple:
Are your finances structured to outpace, or even grow with inflation, or are they exposed to it?

Smart wealth protection isn’t about reacting later. It’s about positioning yourself early with the right strategy, diversification, and long-term thinking.

If you’re unsure where you stand, now is the right time to find out.

But the decision is not always straightforward.

Income, career plans, family situation and long term residency all play a role.

Here you will see the key differences between both systems and what they mean for your situation.
