🇨🇿 Need a Czech TIN number (DIČ) in 2025? Here’s what you need to know 👇

If you’re freelancing, running a business, or registering for VAT in the Czech Republic, you’ll need a Tax Identification Number — known locally as a DIČ.

📌 Who needs it?
✔️ Freelancers (OSVČ)
✔️ Business owners
✔️ VAT payers
✔️ Foreigners doing business in CZ

🛠️ How to get it:
1️⃣ Visit your local Tax Office (Finanční úřad)
2️⃣ Bring ID + business documents
3️⃣ Fill out the registration form
4️⃣ Get your TIN (usually starts with CZ...)

💡 TIP: Without a TIN, you can’t file taxes or charge VAT legally.

🎯 Start early to avoid delays — especially if you’re a foreigner registering for the first time.

🛑 Closing your Czech trade licence (Živnost) in 2025? Read this first!

Whether you’re moving abroad, switching to full-time employment, or just taking a break from freelancing — you need to officially cancel your trade licence to avoid future tax, social, and health obligations. It’s not automatic!

📝 Step-by-step cancellation checklist:

1️⃣ Notify the Trade Licensing Office (živnostenský úřad)
2️⃣ Inform the Tax Office (finanční úřad)
3️⃣ Deregister from Social Security (ČSSZ)
4️⃣ Cancel with your Health Insurance provider (VZP, OZP, etc.)
5️⃣ Submit your final annual tax return

❗Mistake to avoid: Many forget to notify all institutions — which leads to unexpected bills months later.

💡 Not ready to close it for good? You can suspend it instead.

If you’ve been through the process or have questions — feel free to comment or message. Let’s help each other out 🇨🇿💼

📺📻 Do foreign students in Czechia need to pay TV & radio fees in 2025?

Here’s what you need to know 👇

✅ You usually DO NOT need to pay if:

You live in a university dorm (kolej).

TV/radio devices belong to the dorm, not you.

You are not registered for electricity.

You don’t own or use devices (smartphone, laptop, tablet, smart TV) to stream live broadcasts.

❌ You DO need to pay if:

You live in a private dorm or rented flat.

You own devices that stream TV/radio (even online).

You’re registered at that address and use electricity.

💰 Monthly fee (as of May 2025):
TV – 150 CZK
Radio – 55 CZK
Total: 205 CZK per household

⚠️ Penalty for non-payment:
Up to 10,000 CZK for TV, 5,000 CZK for radio.

✍️ Don’t use any devices?
Submit a written declaration (čestné prohlášení) to avoid paying.

🔗 Where and how to pay or declare:
Register and pay for TV here: www.tvpoplatky.cz

Register and pay for radio here: www.rozhlas.cz/poplatky

To submit the declaration of no devices, you can find forms on these sites as well.

ℹ️ Questions? I can help you fill out the form or explain what to do – just message me!

🚀 Waiting forever for your Czech residence permit renewal?

You don’t have to. If it’s been 60+ days and you’re stuck in bureaucratic limbo, you can officially ask MVČR to speed things up.

📝 Just write a polite letter (ideally in Czech) with:
– Your name + file number
– Date of application
– Why the delay is a problem (e.g. job, travel, lease)
– A request for expedited processing
– Any proof (employer letter, school cert, etc.)

📬 Send it by post, datová schránka, or email with a signed PDF.
And yes — it actually works (in many cases).

💡 Want help writing it in proper Czech?
DM me — I’ll draft a custom letter for you.

📺📻 TV & Radio Licence Fees in Czechia – What Foreigners Should Know in 2025

Living in the Czech Republic with a long-term visa (90+ days) or permanent residence? You’re likely required to pay monthly media licence fees:

👉 CZK 150/month for TV
👉 CZK 55/month for radio
(one payment per household, not per device)

You’re liable if you own a TV, radio, or any device used to stream (smartphone, laptop, etc.).

❗ Exemptions apply if:
– You’re a tourist or short-term visitor
– You don’t have any devices
– You’re seriously disabled or your income is below 2.15× the living minimum

📝 If exempt, you must submit a written declaration (čestné prohlášení) to Czech TV or Czech Radio.
💡 Register within 15 days of moving in or purchasing a device.
💳 Pay via bank transfer, SIPO, or online.
💸 Fines: up to CZK 10,000 for TV and CZK 5,000 for radio.

🏠 Renters: check if your landlord covers it — otherwise, it’s your responsibility.

📬🇨🇿 What is a Datová schránka — and why you probably need one in the Czech Republic

If you live, work, or run a business in the Czech Republic, there’s one digital tool you shouldn’t ignore: the Datová schránka (Data Mailbox).

It’s your official electronic mailbox for secure communication with the Czech government. That means no more waiting in post office lines or dealing with lost paperwork. Whether you’re sending documents to tax authorities, applying for permits, or receiving court notices — it’s all done legally, digitally, and instantly.

🔒 Why it’s great:

Secure and recognized by law

Saves time (and trees 🌳)

24/7 access to all your official communication

Free for individuals, required for companies

💼 Businesses are automatically assigned one.
🙋‍♀️ Individuals can apply voluntarily — and should, if you want to make life easier.

🛠️ Setting it up is simple and can often be done online or via CzechPoint offices.

🇨🇿 Health Insurance for Foreigners in the Czech Republic – What’s the Difference?

Are you a foreigner living in the Czech Republic? 🧳 Then health insurance isn’t just a formality — it’s a must.

🛡 Commercial Insurance
Ideal for short-term stays, visas, residence permits, and students. Covers emergency care and sometimes planned treatments.
Popular providers:
👉 AXA
👉 Slavia Pojišťovna
👉 Uniqa
👉 Maxima Pojišťovna

🏥 Public Health Insurance
If you’re employed, have permanent residency, or refugee status, you qualify for Czech public health insurance:
✅ VZP ČR (General Health Insurance Company)
✅ ČPZP, OZP, ZPMV, and others

⚠️ No insurance = no visa or residency renewal! And low-quality insurance might get your application rejected.
