A look back at the Silk Road Finance & Technology Forum in Tashkent Uzbekistan FinTech Forum

Last week, our CEO Artem Stopnevich and Sales Lead Boban Saric joined the forum in Tashkent, meeting with industry leaders and discussing the latest developments shaping digital finance in the region.

Artem also took part in a panel discussion on the future of agentic payments and the role of regulators, governments and infrastructure providers in building a safe environment for this technology.

A few moments from the forum and some great conversations along the way.

SaaS custody, short for “custody as a service,” is a model where the platform that holds and manages digital assets runs as a cloud service instead of being installed and operated by the institution itself.

In practice, an institution creates an account, logs in, and can start working with wallets, transaction approvals, and reporting. There is no infrastructure to set up or maintain. The provider takes care of the underlying system, updates, and day-to-day technical operations.

The main advantage of SaaS custody is a lower barrier to entry. An institution doesn’t need to build its own custody infrastructure before it can start operating with digital assets.

That makes SaaS one of the fastest ways to move from deciding to use digital assets to actually working with them.

Meet Anastasiia Sanina, our new Head of B2B Partnerships.

As The Vault continues to grow its partner network, we’re excited to welcome Anastasiia Sanina as the person leading our B2B partnerships.

With seven years of experience in regulated digital asset infrastructure, Anastasiia has worked across technology, operations and licensing. She was employee #3 at a tokenization exchange that grew into a licensed platform operating across Switzerland, the US, Bahrain and the UAE, and led the programme that secured its Central Bank of Bahrain licence.

Now at The Vault, Anastasiia will be the main point of contact for our partners, covering integrations, onboarding, commercial questions and joint initiatives. With a background in software engineering, she can also go deep into the technical side when needed.

We sat down with Anastasiia to talk about her experience building regulated platforms, what she learned from the licensing process, and how she approaches working with partners.

Our CEO, Artem Stopnevich, will be in Tashkent next week for the Silk Road Finance & Technology Forum Uzbekistan FinTech Forum, taking place on 24–26 August.

Uzbekistan is actively building out its own financial infrastructure, from local payment networks to new frameworks for stablecoins and tokenised assets. As this market develops, the question of where digital assets are held and who ultimately controls the keys becomes increasingly important. Custody is closely tied to the infrastructure and regulatory framework being built around these new forms of finance.

Artem will be in Tashkent to discuss these topics and share his perspective on where digital asset infrastructure is heading in the region.

If you’re attending the forum too, we’d be happy to connect. See you in Tashkent.

Ask most institutions what’s hardest about managing digital assets and they’ll point to the visible stuff: reconciliation across 24/7 markets, NAV calculations that behave differently by token, reporting structures built for a market that never closes.

Beneath these operational challenges sits a more fundamental shift. Every institution now carries full, direct, irreversible responsibility for its own keys. There’s no clearinghouse to call, no transaction to reverse. That single shift creates security and operational questions that simply didn’t exist in traditional finance, and most teams underestimate how much design work it demands before they ever go live.

This excerpt comes from the panel discussion at The (Un)Banked Conference in Amsterdam, organized by .global, where our CEO Artem Stopnevich discussed the operational challenges institutions face when moving from traditional to digital asset management.

The full original panel discussion is available on the .global YouTube channel.

„Security is not a feature. It’s an architectural constraint.“

This principle is at the core of how we built The Vault.

▫️MPC-CMP keeps private keys from ever existing in full.
▫️Cryptographic policies make security rules part of the signing process.
▫️On-premise infrastructure keeps keys and transaction data within the client’s own environment.
▫️Our own cryptographic R&D gives us control over the technology behind the system.

We’ve brought these principles together in a new article, where we take a closer look at the architecture behind The Vault and our approach to digital asset security.

The Vault has completed an independent security assessment of its MPC custody engine, conducted by Halborn.

The review covered the core cryptography library, the signer service, and the coordination layer behind our multi-party computation protocols, where the key is generated jointly across separate parties and no single party ever holds it complete. All findings identified during the engagement have been fully remediated and verified.

An independently reviewed and remediated codebase is also a step toward a longer-term goal: open-sourcing the MPC library itself, so our core cryptography can stand up to public scrutiny, not only institutional due diligence.

Next step is moving the library to open source.

Every action taken with digital assets should leave a clear and verifiable record. Not only for compliance, but for the people responsible for managing risk, reviewing activity, and making critical decisions every day.

A robust audit trail creates that visibility by recording who initiated an action, who approved it, and when it happened. It helps institutions investigate incidents faster, meet regulatory requirements, and maintain accountability across every stage of the custody process.

At The Vault, every transaction, approval, and policy change is recorded with full attribution, creating a permanent and verifiable history institutions can rely on.
