Why do flamingos stand on one leg? 🦩

The most common theory is to conserve body heat when they are cold. (Google + ChatGPT)

I have a different hypothesis. 👇

Flamingos live in groups (a flamboyance of flamingos) in tropical and beautiful shallow waters around the world, seasonally.

Birds, especially flamingos are elusive. They stay distant and life protection is everything.

So, my hypothesis is that they stand on one leg to diversify their leg investments. If a croc bit one leg off, they would still have a leg to stand on or even gouge the eye of the would-be attacker.

In Pic #3 I asked chatgpt how I could prove this when the time comes. 🐊
