African Financial Markets Initiative

African Financial Markets Initiative Launched in 2008, the African Financial Markets Initiative (AFMI) is an expression of commitment by The African Domestic Bond Fund (ADBF).

Developed in Africa for Africa and focused on a cooperative approach with public and private sector partners, the AFMI is an integrated and tailored response to tackle some of the most important issues affecting the development of financial markets in the region. Through this initiative, the AfDB seeks to strengthen African economies by reducing their dependency on foreign currency denominated deb

t. It also seeks to to act as a catalyst for regional financial integration. To achieve these objectives, AFMI has two complementary pillars :
The African Financial Markets Database (AFMD). AFMD is a comprehensive database that provides updated, reliable and complete information on African domestic bond markets. ADBF will contribute to the development of sound domestic bond markets in Africa, by investing in local currency bond markets in Africa.
