Today, SIP Medical Family Office has published the SIP Health Cost Index 2026, providing a global ranking of private healthcare costs across 60 countries.

Unlike conventional comparisons based on national healthcare expenditure or public healthcare spending, the SIP Health Cost Index focuses specifically on the cost of accessing high-quality private healthcare, using International Private Medical Insurance premiums as a proxy.

The 2026 results show that private healthcare costs increased by an average of 18% globally year-on-year, with increases ranging from 33% in the United States to 3% in Japan. As private healthcare costs continue to outpace general inflation and income growth, maintaining access to high-quality private healthcare is becoming an increasing financial consideration for individuals and families considering relocation.

The Index also highlights notable patterns between national healthcare policy, global wealth migration and private healthcare costs, offering a broader perspective on how healthcare affordability and access are evolving across major international destinations.
