What if hydrogen storage could become lighter, more affordable, and fully recyclable? ♻️

That’s the idea behind New Generation Tanks (NGT), one of the startups joining the Venture Leaders Cleantech 2026 roadshow to Munich this November.

Led by CEO Gilles Rocher, NGT is developing ultra-lightweight pressure tanks made from carbon fibres and recyclable thermoplastic resins, designed to replace conventional heavy gas cylinders.

With customizable shapes and an efficient manufacturing process, the technology aims to make hydrogen storage more cost-competitive while opening new opportunities in mobility, aerospace, and industrial applications.

In November, Gilles will join the Swiss National Cleantech Team in Munich to connect with investors, industry leaders, and potential partners.

What if electric buses could recharge automatically every time they stop, without cables or charging stations? ⚡

That’s the idea behind Winduction AG, one of the startups joining the Venture Leaders Cleantech 2026 roadshow to Munich this November.

Led by Co-Founder & COO Sonam Bhuka, Winduction is developing wireless charging technology that allows electric buses to recharge through their wheels during routine stops.

By turning idle time into charging time, the technology aims to reduce the need for large batteries, lower operating costs, and make electric public transport more efficient and sustainable.

In November, Sonam will join the Swiss National Cleantech Team in Munich to connect with investors, industry leaders, and potential partners.

Business Concept lesson of the week: your first financial model will be wrong. That doesn’t make it useless 💡

The value lies in making your assumptions explicit: how many customers, at what price, at what cost, and how quickly? Once written down, those assumptions can be tested and challenged.

In episode 3 of Lessons from Founders, Frédéric Lauchenauer, President of Business Angels Switzerland and Business Concept trainer, shares why knowing what customers will pay is only half the equation.

Drawing on his experience advising a hardware startup, he highlights a crucial lesson: an advisor can help build your model, but you need to own the numbers. Understanding your costs, margins and cash needs matters more than producing a convincing forecast.

What makes Zurich such a powerhouse of Swiss innovation?

With 46 startups in the Top100 Swiss Startup Award 2026 ranking, the canton accounts for nearly half of Switzerland’s most promising startups. But the numbers tell a much bigger story!

Zurich’s strength lies in its diverse and technology-driven ecosystem. Engineering leads with 9 startups, followed by Robotics and ICT with 8 each. Together, these sectors represent more than half of Zurich’s Top100 startups, highlighting the region’s strong position in deep tech.

Investment is another key driver. In 2025, venture capital investments in Zurich reached CHF 1.19 billion, up from CHF 637 million in 2024, according to the Swiss Venture Capital Report. 🚀

And the results speak for themselves! Former Top100 startups such as ANYbotics, Climeworks, CUTISS AG, GetYourGuide, On, Optotune, Planted, Scandit, Sygnum Bank, and Wingtra, showcase Zurich’s ability to turn breakthrough innovations into internationally recognized scale-ups.

🎓 World-class academic institutions play a central role in this success. Universities such as ETH Zürich, the University of Zurich, and ZHAW Zurich University of Applied Sciences drive cutting-edge research, nurture entrepreneurial talent, and foster a thriving spin-off culture that continuously brings new technologies to market.

The second half of Venture Leaders Medtech 2026 in Boston was all about turning connections into opportunities! 🚀

From investor pitches and strategic meetings to healthcare exchanges, the Swiss National Startup Team wrapped up an intensive week of exploring opportunities to scale Swiss medtech innovation in the U.S.

🎤 The founders sharpened their fundraising strategies with Knightsbridge Advisors, Inc. before taking the stage at the Boston Investor Pitchfest, connecting with investors and exploring potential partnerships.

🩺 Pitch sessions with Johnson & Johnson and dedicated 1:1 meetings with Mayo Clinic offered opportunities to showcase their technologies, receive expert feedback, and explore potential collaborations.

⚖️ A legal workshop with Arnold & Porter, alongside VISCHER and Kellerhals Carrard, provided practical insights into U.S. market entry, while the Partners Dinner strengthened connections with key players in Boston’s ecosystem.

What if buildings could help stabilize the electricity grid while cutting energy costs? ⚡

That’s the idea behind kuafu, one of the startups joining the Venture Leaders Cleantech 2026 roadshow to Munich this November.

Led by CEO and Co-Founder Federica Bellizio, Kuafu is developing an AI-powered platform that connects and manages building energy assets, including batteries, EV chargers, heat pumps, and solar panels.

By optimizing energy use and supporting the grid during periods of high demand, Kuafu aims to reduce building energy costs by up to 30% while helping grid operators avoid costly infrastructure upgrades.

100 startups. Swiss innovation on the map! 🚀

📍 Zurich leads the 2026 Top100 ranking with 46 startups, followed by Vaud with 23. Together, they account for nearly 70% of this year’s Top100, highlighting their importance as two of Switzerland’s leading innovation hubs.

But innovation extends well beyond these hotspots! The remaining 31 startups are spread across the country, from Basel and Geneva to Ticino and Valais.

From engineering and biotech to cleantech, the ranking reflects the diversity of technologies and entrepreneurial talent shaping Switzerland’s future.🗺️

Over the next two weeks, we’ll take a closer look at two of Switzerland’s leading startup ecosystems: Zurich next week, followed by Lausanne!
