Despite its gold and diamond reserves, the Central African Republic is one of the poorest countries in the world. It has been the scene of violence for years.
The National Assembly voted "unanimously" of the deputies present a law "governing cryptocurrency in the Central African Republic". President Faustin Archange Touadéra then promulgated it.
