The Human Rights Council starts on Monday at the UN in Geneva, and the EU will be an active voice: we will lead a resolution on the human rights situation in Russia, in Afghanistan and in Burundi. We will speak out on Russia’s war of aggression in Ukraine, the human rights situation in Belarus, Ethiopia, Sudan and Venezuela. And we’ll engage in discussions on the impact of AI on human rights and onn how to counter racism. So stay tuned for updates!

Summertime in the diplomatic world also means farewells. With the annual rotation, dear colleagues leave us and new ones arrive.

This summer, six colleagues are departing to take up new roles and embark on new adventures elsewhere. Each of them leaves their mark—through fond memories, friendships and professional achievements.

We will miss them and wish them all the very best for what lies ahead.

The good thing about diplomacy? Goodbye is rarely forever!

As Russia’s war of aggression continues, the EU stands firmly with Ukraine and its people.

We remain Ukraine’s biggest supporter and will continue to provide political, financial, humanitarian and military assistance for as long as it takes.
