DLT regulations [2021 Update]

🇨🇭In a bid to stay ahead of the curve in Fintech, Switzerland has launched new laws that govern distributed ledger technologies (DLTs). This has seen the country standing out as the most comprehensive and articulated DLT regulatory framework in the world.

🎯The new regulations are expected to provide investors, entrepreneurs, and consumers with the most comprehensive regulatory certainty in the blockchain playground—a superiority that is likely to persevere for several years.

💰The main focus of the DLT amendments will be on security token exchanges. Any trading venues will therefore need new licenses which will regulate digital assets, new custody service providers, and several other nuances. Because of these amendments, the transfer of shares and other securities will be more secure, and the banking system will be better regulated.

⏳The completion of this process will see Switzerland becoming one of the leading countries with a risk-controlled and the most supportive space for DLT-based products and services. The processes are also aimed at improving crypto finance business conditions, which will as a result strengthen the sustainability of other fintech initiatives.

🧑‍💻 The digitization of financial markets continues to usher in new and exciting developments on the Swiss market. Last year, Switzerland managed to pass a tokenized securities law known as the .

🔍The purpose of this law is to establish a strong legal foundation for the digital asset exchange platform while also working to mitigate the threat of digital currency laundering. Its implementation serves to ensure that all industry players are aware of where they stand and the risks involved.

✔️So far, the law has been welcomed with open arms by the majority of Swiss companies and organizations. Most of them, including Crypto Finance companies, SEBA and Signum banks, have already positioned themselves as the early birds in the promising new world of distributed ledger technology (DLT) finance.
