The two people I care most about impressing are 8-year-old me and 80-year-old me.
8-year-old me is all the big dreams, curiosity, and courage I had as a kid. She reminds me to keep trying new things, take chances, and not shrink my life just because it feels safer. I want her to look at my life and feel proud that I didn’t ignore what she wanted.
80-year-old me is at the other end of the story. She is looking back at the choices I made, the person I became, the memories I created, and the chances I either took or walked past. I want her to feel grateful that I didn’t waste time, and that I protected what mattered—my family, my health, my money, my impact.
So I try to make decisions that line up with both of them.
Honoring the kid who dreamed big.
Respecting the older version of me who has to live with the results.
That is the life I am working toward.
What about you?
