Our volunteer firefighters aren’t just neighbours helping out—they are highly trained professionals who meet the exact same NFPA standards as full-time crews. They don’t just show up when it’s convenient; they:

• leave family dinners at a moment's notice

• jump out of bed for 3:00 AM calls

• step away from their "day jobs" the second the pager sounds

These individuals are the backbone of our fire services, protecting over 80% of Ontario’s geography. 🌲🚜

This , we’re looking past the gear at the people behind it. To the firefighters balancing careers, families, and the sudden ring of a pager: We see the dedication it takes to serve your community at 3:00 AM and still be at your desk by 9:00 AM.

🌸It’s the first day of spring! Remember, smoke and carbon monoxide (CO) alarms need regular maintenance to keep working properly.

Clean the exterior of your alarms using a household vacuum with a brush attachment or compressed air. Always follow the manufacturer’s instructions to help minimize false alarms and ensure reliable operation.

Don’t forget—testing your alarms monthly is just as important.

A few minutes of maintenance can make all the difference.

When you change your clocks this weekend, take a few minutes to check your smoke and carbon monoxide alarms.

✔ Test each alarm by pressing the TEST button.
✔ Check the batteries and replace them if needed.
✔ Check the age of the alarm and replace any that are expired.

It’s also a great time to review and practice your home fire escape plan so everyone knows what to do if the alarms sound.

A working alarm can give your family the early warning needed to escape safely.

🛑Quick safety tips:
• Don’t plug heaters or major appliances into power bars
• Don’t daisy chain power bars
• Use wall outlets for major appliances
• Ensure your power bar is listed to Canadian standards (CSA or cUL)

Wyoming Access to Care has evening appointments available today (Feb 23) and Thursday (Feb 26). These are same day bookings and for urgent issues (ie. UTIs, respiratory infections, flu etc). Services are provided to patients and non-patients of Central Lambton Family Health Team, including people without any provider at all.
