Local storm systems are under massive strain, and sewer or water can back up into your home in an instant. At Kluz Agencies Inc., we want to help you take immediate action to protect your basement while this downpour is happening.

Drop everything and check these 5 quick-fixes right now:
1️⃣ Kill the Water Usage: Stop running your dishwasher, washing machine, or taking long showers immediately. Minimizing what goes down your drains relieves critical pressure on your main sewer line.

2️⃣ Kick Out the Downspouts: If it is safe to step outside quickly, make sure your downspout extensions are connected and forcing water at least 6 feet away from your foundation walls.

3️⃣ Check the Sump Discharge: Ensure your sump pumps are discharging water outside, far away from your house. Never route it back into your floor drains or municipal sewer connection—that will cause a fast backup.

4️⃣ Listen to Your Sump Pump: Frequently head downstairs and confirm your pump is actively cycling. If you have, make sure your battery backup is ready to kick in if the storm knocks out the local power grid. (If you are going to be away....arrange for someone to check on your house daily!)

5️⃣ Clear Fast Blockages: Safely clear away any immediate leaves or debris blocking your lowest gutters or nearby storm drains to keep rising water moving away from your property.
