Meet Alex Bergman, the founder and instructor behind Principled Pilates! 🧘

Alex has always dreamed of owning her own business, and after years of raising a family and helping others build their studios, the timing was finally right. The name Principled Pilates was inspired by the six principles of Pilates: breath, precision, flow, control, concentration, and centering.

Principled Pilates offers group classes, private, and semi-private training on four reformers with tower attachments and a Pilates chair, giving clients a wide variety of exercises beneficial for the body.

With start-up funding through LRCC's Business Grant and Loan Program, Alex was able to make her dream a reality. Just one month in, her biggest success has been growing organically through word of mouth — with clients recommending Principled Pilates to friends and coworkers because it's genuinely helping them.

Here's her advice to other Red River Métis entrepreneurs: "If you have a good idea and you're passionate about what you do and you believe in yourself, you have support at LRCC to help make your dreams come true. Go for it."

Meet Dr. Jade Young, the founder behind Prairie Sky Health and Wellness in Lundar, Manitoba! 🌿

Prairie Sky Health and Wellness is a primary care clinic offering therapy, physician services, and foot care. Dr. Young was inspired to start her business out of a desire to work in and serve her own community.

With start-up financing through LRCC’s Professional Loan Program, which provides a combination of grant and loan funding, Dr. Young has built a practice that’s making a meaningful difference in her community. Since launching Prairie Sky, she has enrolled more than 400 patients, hosted 4 medical trainees with 7 to 9 more expected from three different training programs, launched a teen clinic at the local high school, and continued a meaningful partnership with Lake Manitoba First Nation.

When asked what advice she’d give to other Red River Métis entrepreneurs, Dr. Young shared that having a strong partner and supportive family made all the difference — whether it was babysitting, tolerating long hours, or building IKEA furniture for days on end.
