The Young Brokers Network(YBN)is a subcommittee of IBAM.

Created to provide a network for young brokers to connect, share ideas, promote education opportunities, to make a difference in the community and to promote the insurance industry as a career. The Young Broker Network will be of interest to brokers urban or rural who are under 40 and who want to share their ideas and concerns about their industry. Noah brings creativity, strong connections, and a passion for building relationships within the industry — and we’re proud to have him in the YBN community.

💼 About Noah

1️⃣ What brokerage do you work at?
👉 Lakeview Insurance

2️⃣ How did you get into the insurance industry?
👉 I kind of just fell into it, honestly. I graduated with a diploma from Red River College Polytech in marketing and had a contact, David Robin, who worked at BSI Insurance looking to expand his marketing team with a summer student. I joined his team and learned a lot from him. I credit his mentorship to where I am today.

3️⃣ What’s your favourite thing about working in insurance?
👉 My favourite thing about working in this industry is the endless number of people you meet and network with. I have made so many great connections throughout my time in the industry. Looking forward to meeting many more!

4️⃣ What motivated you to join the Young Broker Network?
👉 Since I was new to the industry when I joined the Young Broker Network, I saw it as an amazing opportunity to meet other brokers. My time in the YBN has been nothing short of amazing. Learning so many different things about the industry itself has really been beneficial to my career.

🌴 Outside the Office

5️⃣ What are some of your hobbies or interests outside of work?
👉 In the summer, I play golf, and if I have time, I play more golf. It is one of my favourite things to do. Outside of that, I play hockey in the Winter and absolutely love watching the NFL. Go Vikings!

6️⃣ What’s your dream vacation?
👉 Germany. World War 2 is so fascinating to me, I’d love to go there and learn more about it.

7️⃣ Fun Fact!
👉 My wife is from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and we travel there every year!

We’re excited to spotlight John Coughlin as part of the Young Broker Network! 👋

John brings experience, a great sense of humour, and a genuine passion for building relationships; and we’re proud to have him in the YBN community.

💼 About John

1️⃣ Brokerage:
👉 I work at Coughlin Insurance Brokers.

2️⃣ How did I get into the insurance industry?
👉 I started working part‑time in insurance while pursuing my post‑secondary education. After a few years, I began to see the opportunities this industry could provide. Nearly 13 years later, I’m still here — and I genuinely enjoy what I do.

3️⃣ Favourite thing about working in insurance?
👉 It’s hard to pick just one! I really enjoy working with my clients and helping them feel informed and at ease when choosing their coverage. The variety of clients and industries I work with keeps things interesting, and I love learning about the people and businesses behind them. The relationships I’ve built — with both clients and colleagues — are a huge part of why I enjoy this industry so much.

4️⃣ Why did I join the Young Broker Network?
👉 My friend Matt Kreitz (a former YBN Chair) encouraged me to join. At first, I thought he just wanted someone to hang out with at events — but it turned out to be much more than that. Over the past four years, I’ve stayed involved because of the incredible people and meaningful connections I’ve made through YBN.

5️⃣ Hobbies & interests:
👉 I enjoy running, reading, taking film photos, playing music, going on canoe trips with friends, and spending time at home with my girlfriend.

6️⃣ Dream vacation:
👉 Tralfamadore.

Bipper’s getting into conference mode 🧳✨

We made a pit stop at The Forks to soak in some local sights before the Insurance Brokers Association of Manitoba Conference kicks off next week!

With this year’s theme, “Treasured Past. Brilliant Future.” celebrating 75 years, there’s a lot to be excited about. The Young Broker Network is especially looking forward to connecting, learning, and celebrating alongside brokers from across the province. 🎉

2️⃣ How did you get into the insurance industry?
👉 Carla started her career as a legal assistant but was ready for something new. Friends in the insurance industry shared how dynamic and relationship‑driven the work could be, and it clicked instantly. She made the switch — and hasn’t looked back.

3️⃣ Favourite thing about working in insurance?
👉 Carla loves the variety and the people. Every client and every policy is different, which keeps the work interesting. But what she values most are the relationships — being someone clients trust during important moments. She also enjoys the problem‑solving side, whether it’s finding the right coverage or helping navigate a claim.

4️⃣ Why join the Young Broker Network?
👉 Carla joined YBN for the chance to connect with passionate professionals and grow within the industry. The networking has been invaluable, but the real highlight has been collaborating with a committee full of supportive, driven individuals.

👉 Carla’s world revolves around her two kids — from hockey practices to cheer competitions, she’s always cheering them on. When they’re not on the go, you’ll find them at the lake with friends and family, soaking up the summer.

👉 She’s one of four sisters! Growing up in a house full of girls meant nonstop energy and a built‑in support system.
