It's never been easier to consume financial information.
It's also never been easier to get distracted by things that don't matter as much as we think they do.
Over the years, I've found that progress usually comes from consistently getting the basics right.
Not chasing every new idea.

The funny thing about HoldCos is that nobody asks about them when they start a business.

The question usually comes later.

When there's cash building up in the corporation.

When taxes start getting bigger.

When protecting what you've built becomes more important than simply growing it.

That's why I think holding companies are less of a tax conversation and more of a wealth-planning conversation.

Most people think disability insurance and critical illness insurance do the same thing.

They don't.
Disability insurance is designed to replace a portion of your income if you're unable to perform the important duties of your occupation due to an illness or injury.
Critical illness insurance provides a lump-sum payment if you're diagnosed with a covered condition, such as cancer, heart attack, or stroke.

Different risks.
Different solutions.
The real question isn't which one is better.

It's whether you've identified the gaps that could impact your income, family, or business.

Have you ever reviewed your protection plan as a whole?

The reason I go through this process is because most families don't have an insurance problem.
They have an awareness problem.
They don't know what they have.
They don't know what's missing.
And they don't know whether their current protection would actually support their family if something happened.
I've met people who already had coverage through work and didn't realize it.
I've met people paying for coverage they no longer needed.
I've also met people who thought their family would be okay, only to discover there were gaps they didn't know existed.
That's why I start with a review.
Not because I'm trying to sell a policy.
Because I'm trying to answer one question:
If something happened to you tomorrow, would the people you love be financially okay?
If you're looking for someone to help you review what you currently have, identify any gaps, and determine whether your family is properly protected, let's talk.

The biggest mistake people make with life insurance?

They spend so much time deciding which type to get that they never get coverage at all.
Whole Life.
Universal Life.
Term Insurance.
They all have a place.
The bigger question is whether the coverage fits what you're trying to protect.
Because I've never met someone who regretted having insurance when they needed it.

What's been holding you back from reviewing your insurance plan?

Most business owners spend years building wealth.
Far fewer spend time thinking about what happens to that wealth when they're no longer here.

The conversations I've found most meaningful aren't about investments, tax strategies, or net worth.

They're about family.
What values do you want to pass on?
What opportunities do you want to create for the next generation?
How do you want your family to be supported when you're gone?

Because the goal isn't simply to leave money behind.
It's to leave an impact.

When you think about your legacy, what matters most to you?

I swear... I really did try. 😂

I had every intention of taking you along for the day, but I got so caught up in the speakers, conversations, and learning that vlogging was the last thing on my mind.

So instead, you get a selfie, a lion, and Nola. 🐾🤍

One of the biggest financial risks for business owners isn't the market.

One of the biggest misconceptions I hear from incorporated business owners?
That there's a "best" way to pay yourself.
The reality is that the answer usually depends on your goals, your cash flow, your retirement planning, your tax situation, and what you're trying to build.
What works for one business owner may not work for another.
That's why financial planning is rarely about finding the perfect strategy.
It's about finding the right strategy for you.

Have you reviewed your compensation strategy recently?

If you don't know where you stand, it's hard to know what to do next.

Before you invest more, save more, or change your strategy, know your position.

The simple things tend to matter most.
