Hi Everyone

The Bank of Canada cut their Prime Rate again by a quarter point.

The Prime Rate is now 4.45%.

Adjustable-rate mortgages will see their payments drop next month.

Variable rate mortgages will have the payment stay the same but more of each payment will go to principal and less to interest.

The Bank of Canada lowered their Prime Rate by 0.25% to now stand at 4.95%.

For anyone in an adjustable rate mortgage, your payments will go down next month.

For anyone in a true variable rate mortgage, your payments will stay the same but the interest component of the payment will reduce and the principal component will increase thus paying off total the mortgage amortization and balance faster.

Hi guys,

The Bank of Canada lowered their Prime Rate to 5.20% last Wednesday.

Your adjustable rate mortgages and lines of credit should see a reduced payment coming shortly.

With the threat of tariffs by Donald Trump there could be need for the Bank of Canada to further reduce Prime by 1% to 1.5% in the coming year.

Great news on the mortgage front for anyone looking at doing a straight renewal / transfer of their mortgage when the term is up.
Effective Nov.21/2024, you can now switch without having to add the 2% stress test to your rate thereby making it much less restrictive to transfer your mortgage to the best deal.

The Bank of Canada reduced their Prime Rate another 0.25% today to now be 6.45%.

For those with adjustable rate loans, lines of credit or mortgages, your payment will reduce next month.

If you have a variable rate mortgage, your payment stays the same but more of the payment goes towards principal.

Happy Spring!

The Bank of Canada left the Prime Rate at 7.20% today with commentary that they want to see a steady / stable inflation rate in their target zone of 2%-3%.

The irony of our Federal government is that the carbon tax and the lack of affordable rental housing are 2 of the biggest inflation drivers, "both of which they caused"!

Look for June to see the first rate cut and your variable/adjustable mortgages and floating rate car loans to start to come down.

For those of you looking to purchase, refinance or renew, we are beating the rate that banks or credit unions are offering.
