We asked a generic AI chatbot and Sinoa the same question a typical canola grow asks by August: "What do I need to get for canola this year to actually make money?"
The generic AI's math checked out, but it solved for the wrong variable by calculating the yield needed at a given price, when the crop is already in the ground and price is the number that actually matters for this question. On top of that, it asked for seven pieces of farm information before it would answer at all: acres, yield, fertilizer cost, land cost, and more.
Sinoa skipped the homework. It named real numbers with a breakeven near $660/tonne (a number based on recent benchmarks), a real profit target of $700-730, up to $830+ for higher-cost operations. And it gave it in both bushels and tonnes, with a clear rule for when to sell.
Same question. Same day. Very different answers.
