Every October 16th, we celebrate the birthday of Noah Webster, the man behind the dictionary that helped define, well, everything!
In the spirit of the day, let's brush up on some insurance terms you may have heard but maybe weren't 100% sure about:

📚 Premium: The amount you pay for your insurance coverage (monthly, annually, etc.)

📚 Deductible: The amount you pay out of pocket before your insurance kicks in on a claim

📚Peril: A specific risk or cause of loss covered (or excluded) by your policy, think fire, theft, or wind

📚 Endorsement: An add-on to your policy that provides extra coverage beyond the standard terms

📚 Liability: Your legal responsibility for injury or damage to someone else or their property

🎃 Don't Let Halloween Turn Into a Homeowners Insurance Claim 👻

Trick-or-treaters aren't the only spooky thing to watch for this Halloween! A few simple precautions can help keep your home safe (and your insurance claim-free) before the ghosts, witches, and superheroes come knocking.

🕸️ 1. Create a safe path
Clear your walkway, steps, porch, and lawn of tripping hazards like cords, hoses, and potted plants.

🕸️ 2. Repair hazards
Fix any wobbly or broken porch railings before guests lean on them.

🕸️ 3. Survey your property
Snap exterior photos before trick-or-treaters arrive, Handy if an accident happens or there's vandalism.

🕸️ 4. Secure pets
Spooky noises, costumes, and constant knocking can stress out pets and lead to aggressive or destructive behaviour. Keep them somewhere safe and quiet away from the action.

🕸️ 5. Turn on the lights
Keep sidewalks and pathways well-lit so everyone can see where they're stepping.

🕸️ 6. Avoid homemade treats
Many parents only let their kids eat prepackaged candy, labels with allergy warnings help prevent life-threatening reactions. Stick with fun-size candies you can buy in bulk.

It's Ask a Stupid Question Day!
Good news, when it comes to insurance, there's no such thing as a stupid question. (We've heard them all, trust us.)
"Does my policy cover a tree falling on my car?" Ask it.
