Every day in my career I meet individuals and families whose lives are changed in an instant by Critical Illnesses and Disabilities. One diagnosis that continues to impact so many families is brain tumors - emotionally, physically and financially. I have seen firsthand how devastating these diagnosis can be for both the patient and their family.

Recently, a dear friend of mine was diagnosed and survived a brain tumor. A fluke situation caused him to go in for an eye exam. After several tests later, he found out that it was in fact a much more serious issue. Luckily, with his wife at his side he was able to combat a horrible situation and break through the other side with not only the strength to help himself, but also the strength to help others through support groups.

If you are able to support the cause, any donation - big or small- would mean a great deal. Thank you for your kindness and support ❤️

It's the middle of the night and you’re still awake. Like many Canadians, worries about your finances have a way of creeping in. So, you do what feels increasingly natural these days and turn to an AI chatbot for answers. It responds within seconds.

But a chatbot can only work with what you type. It can’t pick up on unspoken hesitation or anxiety, or know to ask follow-up questions you didn’t know you needed to ask.

Fast answers have their place. But they’re not the whole picture, and when it comes to protecting you and your family, the whole picture matters.

May is Disability Insurance Awareness Month!

While many Canadians protect their valuable possessions, far fewer safeguard their most important asset: their ability to earn an income!

Even though many of us recognize the importance of disability insurance, only 10% of Canadians are actually covered.

A person's ability to earn an income is their most valuable asset. Without their health, they can’t work. Without an income, everyday expenses quickly become unmanageable. Many people assume a disability will never happen to them, but the reality is....

A 35-year-old has a 50% chance of experiencing a disability before the age of 65. If that were to happen, about half would rely on their personal savings if they ever lost their ability to earn an income.

RBC Insurance continues to be a leader in the disability insurance market thanks to our decades of experience, best-in-class claims management services and support.

Our offerings provide essential income protection when clients need it most, whether injured, ill or a mental health event stops them from working. We deliver a personalized and unique return-to-work experience by ensuring our clients’ best interests are top of mind during the claims process.
