As the new school year approaches, we’d like to remind you that it’s time to update records for over-age dependents.
It’s important so you can keep coverage in place for full-time students and ensure that a benefits plan is not paying for ineligible dependents.
Should a dependent reach the plan’s lower age limit and isn’t a full-time student, their coverage will end; whereas if a dependent is previously identified as a full-time student but hasn’t reached the upper age limit, they’ll continue to have coverage.
To remain up to date we recommend you:
🖍️Verify your policy’s upper age limit for full-time students.
🖍️Check in with your employees with over-age dependents regarding whether their dependent is a full-time student, including proof of enrollment.
🖍️Be sure to update any records to show that a dependent qualifies.
