Many mortgage holders assume they need to wait until@their mortgage is up@for renewal to make changes. In reality, your mortgage can be reviewed and adjusted during your term (penalties may apply) depending on your goals and current situation.

As rates shifts and your balance changes, there may be opportunities to improve cash flow, access equity, or restructure your mortgage to better fit your present needs, not just when your renewal date arrives.

If it has been a while since your last mortgage review, let’s connect and let’s see what options you may have now.

Homeownership in Canada looks different than it did a few years ago and buyers are adapting.

Creative strategies are helping more Canadians get into the market: co-purchasing with
family, friends, or partners as well as mult-generational living is on the rise.

Buying with others comes with important considerations - ownership structure, shared
mortgage responsiblity, credit impact, and an exit strategy for all parties need to be part of
the conversation before you sign your mortgage.

The right structure makes all the difference. As a licensed mortgage professional, I help design mortgage strategies that make homeownership work—for everyone involved, now and long term.

If you’re thinking about your next move or just want clarity on your options, feel free to reach out. I’m here to help you get started.

The Bank of Canada hit pause again. Today’s announcement keeps the policy rate at 2.25%, the fourth hold in a row.

But here’s what matters beyond the headline: Global uncertainty is still in play, energy prices are creeping up, and inflation could shift again in the months ahead.

So while rates are steady for now… the story isn’t over. A “pause” doesn’t mean certainty, it means the Bank is watching closely. And if you have a mortgage (or planning to get one), you should too.

If you’re unsure what this means for your payments, renewal, or buying plans… let’s chat!. Let’s make a plan that actually works for you.

Before exploring potential homes or placing an Offer To Purchase it’s worth taking time to understand your financial picture and the mortgage financing available to you.

Speaking with a mortgage agent (broker) early in the process will help establish: a realistic budget, down payment options, and how factors such as the stress test, condo fees, and
closing costs may affect your purchase.

It also gives you time to prepare documents, explore lender options, and get pre-approved so when the right home appears, you’re ready to move with confidence. A little preparation upfront can make the buying process smoother and help avoid surprises later.

Set yourself up for a stronger buying experience - connect with a licensed mortgage agent (broker) before you start house hunting!

The Bank of Canada hit pause again. 🇨🇦📊
Today’s rate announcement holds the policy rate at 2.25% , another pause after a series of cuts that began in late 2024.

But here’s what matters more than the headline: Global uncertainty is rising. Ongoing conflict in the Middle East is adding pressure to the global economy, with oil prices climbing, and we’re already feeling it at the gas pumps here in Canada.

Even though inflation dipped below the 2% target in February, Governor Tiff Macklem signaled that higher energy costs could push inflation back up in the months ahead.

So while rates are steady for now… the story isn’t over.

Take this as a reminder: A “pause” doesn’t mean certainty. It means the Bank is watching closely — and so should you.

Mortgage renewal in 2026 is giving many homeowners a wake-up call.

For a $500K mortgage, some families are seeing payments increase by $400–$600 per month when their term ends.

And the reality is… many people simply sign the renewal their bank sends them, without realizing they have options.

But this is where strategy matters… When I review a mortgage renewal, I usually look at three key levers:

1️⃣ Lender Competition
Some lenders are offering aggressive switch programs right now because they want new clients.

2️⃣ Amortization Flexibility
In some situations, extending the amortization slightly can ease the monthly payment while rates continue adjusting.

3️⃣ Rate Holds
Many lenders allow a 120-day rate hold, which means you can secure a ceiling rate while you explore options.

The truth is: A MORTGAGE RENEWAL ISN’T JUST A PAPERWORK. It’s one of the biggest financial checkpoints homeowners have every few years. And the difference between reviewing your options and simply signing the renewal can sometimes mean thousands of dollars over the term.

If your mortgage is renewing in 2026, it may be worth looking at the numbers before signing anything.

Today we celebrate the women who are building more than careers, they’re building homes, stability, and futures for themselves and their families.

As a mortgage advisor, some of the most powerful moments I witness are women stepping into homeownership, investing in their future, and creating foundations that will last for generations.

Your courage to build, to lead, and to start anyway matters.

Happy International Women’s Day. 💕
