This was so true. I still follow and share the concept with my clients
You'd scrape together whatever change you could find in the couch cushions, your piggy bank, or from returning pop bottles.
Then you'd ride your bike down to the corner store with your friends, walking in with a crumpled dollar bill like you owned the place.
You'd stand at that candy counter for what felt like forever, strategizing every purchase because you had to make that money count.
Penny candy, Now and Laters, Laffy Taffy, Smarties, Blow Pops. You knew exactly how far a dollar could stretch.
The ride home was just as good as the candy, pockets full of sugar, no helmets, no supervision, just pure childhood freedom.
What was your go-to candy at the corner store?
