I watched the Sinead O'Connor documentary called "Nothing Compares" last evening. Sinead parabolic music career was destroyed, when she tore up a picture of the Pope on Saturday Night Live in the early 90's. This was done in protect of the Catholic Church and the Pope's efforts to cover systemic child abuse. At the time, I thought Sinead was out of her mind. Now, I believe she was trying to open mine.

Patience, patience and more patience is what investors need to exercise in the current market environment.

History has demonstrated the economy has a hard time digesting interest rate increases by the Federal Government. In particular, 3 rate hikes has proven to cause significant declines in asset prices.

Unfortunately, with inflation running high and unemployment running low, it is likely too early to be a buyer of risk assets. Because more interest rate hikes are coming.

Start by reviewing your portfolio to find areas where you can improve the quality of the assets you currently own. And, make a list of the risk asset you wish to own along with the price you feel represents a compelling investment opportunity, ideally a multi-generational opportunity.

When to sell? What to sell? When to buy? What to buy? Likely the most challenging questions for investors.

Bill Gates comments on the crypto asset group can be applied to all assets.

During weak market times, like today's bear market, we learn what our assets are worth. As Warren Buffet eloquently once said: "when the tide goes out, you can see who is swimming naked."

It is okay and normal for asset prices to decline. Nothing goes straight up. The key is to make an informed decision whether the asset price will recover alongside the markets.

Investors need to scrutinize all of their assets to see which ones where swimming without a bathing suit. And, sell assets with low recovery potential to buy higher quality assets that will lead price recovery.

I'm going to post two articles today. Please watch for the second. Elon Musk and Jamie Dimon are two highly respected, successful, brilliant business people. Both are warning of "super bad" and "hurricane" economic conditions. We all need to be prepared.

This means taking action with your investment strategy. Reducing stock market exposure, especially to higher risk companies. Not the easiest decision, after a challenging start to the year.
