When do you make your first mortgage payment after buying a home? 🔑

It may not be due right after you get the keys. Your mortgage advance date, payment schedule and any interest adjustment can all affect the timing.

In Equitable Bank’s published example, funds advance May 15, the interest adjustment covers May 15–31, and the first regular payment is July 1. Your lender’s schedule may be different, so check your mortgage documents for the dates that apply to you.
