Investment tax planning is an ongoing part of building long-term wealth.

A sound financial plan takes into consideration:

• Your goals (retirement, education, homeownership, legacy)
• Your timeline and risk tolerance
• How your investments are structured, held, and taxed
• Life changes that may require adjustments along the way

Understanding how your investment activity may be classified from a tax perspective can make a meaningful difference in your after-tax returns over time.

As your financial advisor, I work with you and your tax professional to build a personalized strategy aligned to your goals. Reach out to me to get started.

What's new on your 2026 annual cost report?

New regulatory requirements are enhancing what appears on your 2026 annual cost report, and the result is a more complete, transparent view of your investment costs.

You will see three key enhancements:

• Investment fund costs, now visible. Costs built into many common investments like mutual funds and ETFs, including management fees, trading within the fund, and operations, will now appear in your report as both percentages and dollar amounts.

• Fund Expense Ratio (FER), a complete view. FER combines a fund's Management Expense Ratio (MER) and Trading Expense Ratio (TER) into one number, giving you the complete annual cost of each fund you own.

• Total Investment Costs, the complete picture. Your report will now sum fund costs, transaction costs, and operating costs into one clear total, capturing your full cost of investing with Edward Jones for the year.

These enhancements show the total cost of owning many common investments.

If you have any questions, please schedule an appointment with me to review your report together.

Starting in January 2027, your 2026 annual costs report will be enhanced to offer a clearer picture of what you pay to invest.

The most effective estate plans don’t just focus on documents, assets, or who gets what. They also consider the people entrusted with important responsibilities.

Family financial and estate planning meetings can help ensure that key individuals understand their responsibilities before they're called upon to act.

For example:
● Does your executor know they've been chosen?
● Does your power of attorney understand your wishes?
● Do the people you've selected know where important information can be found?

That's often just as important as having the documents themselves in place.

If you're considering a family estate planning meeting, I can help you develop an approach that aligns with your needs. Let’s connect.

Edward Jones, its employees and Edward Jones advisors are not estate planners and cannot provide tax or legal advice. Please consult appropriate tax, legal and insurance professionals regarding your circumstances.

The burden of proof shifts back to AI skeptics. NVIDIA's earnings reinforced that AI demand and spending remain robust, with customer demand continuing to outpace supply and little evidence that the AI investment cycle is nearing an end.

A new school year is just around the corner, and for many families that means it's time to start drawing from an RESP.

Julie Petrera, our Director of Financial Planning at Edward Jones Canada, shared some helpful perspective in The Canadian Press on the mistakes to avoid — like taking from the wrong portion of the account first, or leaving too much invested in equities too close to withdrawal time.

We work with media to share insights like these because the families we serve are asking these same questions every day. By contributing to credible publications, we help bring timely, trustworthy guidance to clients and families across Canada — not just in our own communities, but wherever these conversations are happening.

Our colleague Julie Petrera, Director of Financial Planning at Edward Jones Canada, recently spoke with The Canadian Press about the RESP withdrawal mistakes families make as the school year approaches.

Why does this matter to us? Because RESPs are one of the most important tools Canadian families use to invest in their children's education, and the decisions around withdrawals can have a real impact on taxes, growth, and whether the money is there when it's needed.

We share our insights with credible media because we want to meet families where they are — with topical, practical guidance they can trust. Articles like this one help us extend our reach beyond our offices and into the homes of families across Canada who are navigating these moments for the first time.

Have a look, and if you're working through an RESP withdrawal, let's talk.

Many investors think that successful stock investing is about picking the next big winner.

In reality, it's often about building a diversified portfolio that reflects your goals, time horizon, and comfort with risk—and sticking with your plan through changing market conditions.

Strategies like diversification, dollar-cost averaging, and periodic rebalancing can help take emotion out of investing and keep you focused on the long term.
