Meet Ashlyn Hinton, our 2026 Community Mindedness Scholarship recipient.
Giving back has been an important part of Ashlyn's high school experience. For five consecutive years, she has volunteered with female hockey programs, helping younger athletes build confidence, develop their skills and discover a love for the game. She has also volunteered with organizations supporting people experiencing food insecurity, seniors, local sports and other community initiatives.
Through those experiences, Ashlyn says she has learned the value of empathy, leadership and supporting the people around her.
Those lessons are helping shape where she's headed next. This fall, she will continue her studies toward a career in education, with the goal of becoming an elementary school teacher.
“My goal is to be remembered not only as a fun and engaging teacher, but also as someone who provides a safe, welcoming environment where every student feels valued, supported, and inspired to reach their full potential.”
And one day, she hopes to bring those values home.
“Returning to Mannville as an educator would allow me to invest in the next generation of students and positively impact the place I have always called home.”
