Monday March 2nd, 2026 my dad passed away peacefully , at the age of 90. Antonio Covello, was an amazing person, loved by everyone. His journey began at age 22, when he left Italy, Calabria, a small town outside Cosenza, (Montalto Uffugo), boarded the S.S. Constitution in 1957, arrived in Toronto March 4th, 1957. The long journey across the Atlantic ocean, not knowing what his new life in Canada would be. Fast forward, dad ran a successful retail furniture store on College Street. back in the early 70's and 80"s, many Italians purchased furniture from Augusta Furniture, as the store was called. Your espresso coffee was always ready ☕️
He eventually moved out of the College Street location, and in 1989 moved to Rogers Road, and now called Mayo Toronto Furniture. The years have passed, and I still hear people speaking of my dad, and the wonderful respect that he had on everyone.
