💜 Special Edition 💜
It is with deep sadness that I share the passing of one of our colleagues, Peter Khakh.
Over the past two years, he faced an incredibly difficult battle with cancer. Through it all, he fought with strength, courage, and determination every step of the way. His resilience and perseverance were a true reflection of the person he was — someone who never gave up, even in the face of overwhelming challenges.
Peter was not only a valued member of the Downtown Vancouver Team, but he was also a member of the RBC family and for 26 years he left his unforgettable and indelible legacy throughout the organization. Yes, Peter was a trailblazer and recognized countless times for his outstanding sales performance, but what set Peter apart was the incredible way he made people feel. You knew Peter was in the room the moment you walked in. His energy and positivity always attracted a crowd, and you couldn’t help but be drawn in to Peter’s sphere. I am reminded of a quote by comedian Jim Carrey, “the effect you have on others is the most valuable currency there is.”, Peter exuded this quality everyday.
This past May, I had the opportunity to enjoy breakfast with RBC CEO Dave McKay. During our conversation, Dave spoke about the countless experiences he shared with Peter over his career, the great memories they curated, and the impact Peter made on him. In an organization with over 100,000 employees, there are few Mortgage Specialists who are on speed dial with the CEO. This truly epitomizes the kind of human being Peter was.
While this is a heartbreaking loss for our team, and for everyone who had the privilege of working alongside him, our thoughts and deepest sympathies are with his family, loved ones, and all those who were close to him, during this incredibly difficult time.
Peter, was one of the very first people I met at RBC 18 years ago; he welcomed me with open arms and in memorable, positive Peter style. I can say this with conviction, Peter genuinely loved RBC and his colleagues; he spoke about it frequently.
It has been an absolute privilege to work alongside Peter as a colleague and leader. You will be deeply missed my friend.
Rest in Peace 🤍
