Dundarave Mortgage Investment Corporation (DMIC) welcomes Mr. Chris Kayat to its Board of Directors.

Mr. Kayat is one of the most successful and influential businessmen in the Canadian mortgage industry.

Starting his career as one of the most productive realtors in British Columbia, Mr. Kayat eventually became the largest Royal LePage owner in Western Canada (by market share and overall agent count) before selling his franchises to Royal LePage Corporate in 2014. Mr. Kayat went on to become the co-founder and Executive VP of industry giant, Dominion Lending Centres (DLC), one of Canada’s leading brokerage networks which, through its 8,500 mortgage professionals working at more than 500 DLC franchises, funded more than $60 billion in mortgages last year. DMIC has a long-standing relationship with DLC and its network of brokers. Mr. Kayat has joined the Board of Directors to lend his expertise and help the investment pool grow, as DMIC continues to be a leader in funding a variety of real estate projects in BC and Alberta.

As we move into 2022, we would like to remind you of the Registered Retirement Savings Plan (RRSP) contribution deadline.

While there are other benefits which involve a bit more planning, the primary benefits of an RRSP are:

Contributions are a tax deduction. They can reduce the overall taxes you pay. This can also increase your income tested government benefits.

Tax Free Compounding: Investments can grow without paying taxes on dividends and capital gains until you withdraw the money in retirement.

A spousal RRSP can reduce your combined tax burden

March 1, 2022 is the deadline for contributing to your RRSP for the 2021 tax year. And, December 31 of the year you turn 71 years of age is the last day you can contribute to your own RRSP.

Should you wish to contribute to your RRSP, TFSA, RESP or other registered plans by further investing in DMIC, we would be happy to assist you. Please feel free to give us a call.
