We recently hosted our annual Human Resources Conference & Member Appreciation Luncheon, featuring insights from insurance partners and vendors improving Canadians' health and wellbeing. Representatives from Beneplan, Sherrard-Kuzz LLP, Maple - Online Healthcare, Medcan, Co-operators, GreenShield, Humania Assurance and RBC Insurance presented.

GreenShield Canada has announce that a collective agreement has been accepted by the GreenShield union Unifor, bringing an end to the strike on April 19th.

Their call centers will resume regular operations on Monday, April 22nd.

We sincerely appreciate your patience and support during the recent weeks.

Please note that there may be higher call volumes than usual at this time.

In line with our commitment to transparency with our member-owners, we are pleased to announce the release of our 2023 annual report.

Despite the economic challenges and inflationary pressures experienced throughout 2023, Beneplan Co-operative has announced a dividend of $1.14 million. This dividend will be directly refunded to our member-owners.

To date, Beneplan's distinctive refund model has returned a total of $31.5 million in cumulative dividends to its members.

The annual report provides insights into this significant achievement, outlines future implications, and highlights key trends observed in the Canadian health benefits sector.

Last week, GreenShield's agreement with its union, Unifor, expired, leading to a strike without notice.

GreenShield Canada activated their contingency plan to ensure essential services continue to be provided to their valued members and the vulnerable communities they support, during the strike.

Meeting the needs of our plan members is our top priority. To ensure members are aware of how to access services during the strike, GreenShield Canada has prepared a message for their members, outlining the services available for continued support.

We strongly encourage you to review their communication attached to this post.

GreenShield Canada remains optimistic that a settlement can be reached through constructive and focused discussions.

We thank you for your understanding, patience and continued support of Beneplan and GreenShield Canada as we work together to navigate this event and continue to work towards our mutual social goal of better health for all.
