A new federal GST/HST relief program could help eligible first-time home buyers save up to $50,000 on qualifying newly built homes across Canada.

Eligible buyers may recover up to 100% of the federal GST, or federal portion of the HST, on qualifying new homes valued up to $1M, with partial rebates available up to $1.5M.

Qualifying property types may include:
• Newly built homes
• Substantially renovated homes
• Certain owner-built homes

Ontario has also proposed additional provincial HST relief, with details still subject to final legislation and implementation guidelines.
