Tesla Model 3 Reeks of...

Predictability.

I was in Alliston, Ontario yesterday coming out of a Coffee Culture and by the side of the curb was a brand new candy apple red Tesla Model 3.

I had about a billion and one questions for the owner who was remarkably kind and willing to satisfy all my curiosities.

One of the things that struck me during our conversation was how the Tesla can predict exactly when a recharge will be required and where along your trip you can recharge. If you are getting low and it doesn't think you will make it, the car will tell you to reduce to a specific speed to ensure you arrive before you are out of 'fuel'.

One of the most disturbing things about being behind on income taxes, property tax or credit card and line of credit debt is that you never know what's around the corner. Bank accounts frozen and emptied by the CRA, credit card declined while purchasing groceries, etc.

You can have the predictability of your financial future by taking 'charge' of it right now, I can help.

Last winter, my son and I spent a few days at my in-laws cottage and there was no firewood. This place is a real cottage, no central heating, just a very good wood stove. Problem is, it needs wood.

So this past summer, I promised myself we would chop the ample wood that is nearby and have it ready for this winter.

Well, you know how it goes, every weekend in the summer I thought to myself, I'll chop it next weekend.

The fall arrived and still no chopped wood, but lots of nice autumn weekends to get that done, isn't there?

We are going up there tomorrow, and guess what? There's no firewood, shocker!

We are going have to buy those bags of wood you get at a local gas station for about 10 x the price.

It's the same with putting off taking care of back taxes and other debts, the longer you wait, the more expensive it can get. At some point, you could lose it all!

WHY THE CHAIR GIRL ROCKS!

By now you have probably seen the video of the girl throwing the chair from the 40th floor of a high rise condo in Toronto.

The chair girl reminds me of the bad choices we all make over the years, some choices of course, worse than others.

It helped me think about the times when it makes sense to step back and think about the choice we are about to make.

This is also true of our finances, the worst choice is often the easiest path to take and that is to do nothing and hope it all goes away.

The best choice, you already know, is to correct our course of action and take the necessary steps to solve our debt headaches once and for all.

The chair girl helped remind me of that.

A young boy and his grandfather were walking in the mountains. The grandfather had gotten a little way ahead and the boy called out, “Grandfather, I’m afraid!”

To the boy’s surprise, his voice came back from across the way, “Grandfather, I’m afraid!”
Startled, the boy called out, “Who’s there?”

Again his words came back to him, “Who’s there?”
The boy got angry, and in his fear he called out, “You’re a chicken!”
“You’re a chicken,” the response came back.

The grandfather returned and was laughing gently. The boy asked what was happening. “Listen,” said the grandfather. He called out, “You are wonderful!”
The grandfather’s voice answered back, “You are wonderful!”

The boy said, “I do not understand, grandfather. Is someone teasing us?”

“No, child. This is called an echo. Our voice is like a rubber ball hitting that cliff and bouncing back to us. But there is a lesson here, because you can throw any words you want, but I chose happy words. Something like an echo also happens in life. When you throw your words or thoughts into the world, they bounce back to you.”

“If I say to my teacher that I’m afraid, will he tell me I’m afraid?”

“Something like that. But if you tell your teacher you’re happy, perhaps he will agree that you are happy. And if you think someone is caring, perhaps they will think you are caring, too.”

Robert was self-employed and like many self-employed Canadians, showed very little income on his tax returns.

Sarah did some part-time work for cash and spent most of her time managing the household affairs and bringing up two young children.

Robert’s self-employment status allows him to deduct expenses not normally allowed to regular employees. His resulting “declared” income is therefore low compared to a regular employee.

Robert and Sarah had accumulated $75,000 worth of debt on credit cards and a line of credit. It was starting to choke their monthly cash flow. They requested a total loan of $120,000 to pay off all their debts and have some money left over to put into Robert’s business.

Robert and Sarah really wanted to keep their first mortgage as it had such a fantastic low rate.

Here’s What Happened:

Robert and Sarah were able to pay off all their high-interest debts which ranged from 18-29%. They freed themselves from the mandatory, intolerable minimum payments required by their bank and walked away with $42,600 cash. Robert was able to invest this into his business and save over $550/month.

They have created $550/month in extra breathing room and now only have two payments to worry about.

You can imagine their relief when it was all said and done.

This was the fresh start they had dreamed about and that their bank could not help them with.

Are you ready for your fresh start?
