The ClimbUp Challenge is back! Mark your calendar.

On November 15, take on the challenge of climbing the CN Tower's 1,776 steps to help combat poverty in our communities.

Desjardins Group has been a long-time supporter of this United Way Greater Toronto initiative. In 2025, our DFSIN advisors participated in the challenge for the first time, and they made an impressive impact.

Murilo Cruz, Financial Advisor with DFSIN Ontario Central, raised more than $4,200, earning the top fundraiser title among all Desjardins participants.

Not far behind was Bernard Wong of DFSIN Markham, who secured the second fundraising spot by raising more than $1,400.

Building on last year's success, we're gearing up once again to support this inspiring event and important cause. Whether you're a seasoned climber or simply looking to make a difference, we'd love to see you join us.

Recently, advisors from our Southwestern Ontario and Toronto West financial centres attended the opening ceremony and VIP reception of the Waterloo Region 2026 Ontario Summer Games, where Desjardins Group proudly served as a Presenting Partner. As host city, Waterloo provided young athletes with a welcoming atmosphere and top-tier facilities.

"So glad to see families, coaches, referees and volunteers come together for this celebration of community and youth sports. These are the people we know and serve every day. It felt great to be there to support them and witness so many exciting and memorable moments," shared Sonia Thompson, Certified Financial Planner and Branch Manager, Mutual Funds, DFSIN Southwestern Ontario.

Craig Lizun, a Life and Health Insurance Advisor based in Waterloo and part of the DFSIN Toronto West team, said attending the ceremony brought back special memories: "Seeing all the kids take part in such an amazing event reminded me of when I won the hockey tournament at these same Games. I commend our team at Desjardins for supporting youth development and helping elevate an event where community spirit truly shines."

From the torch lighting to the excitement on the athletes' faces, it was a day full of unforgettable moments. We're proud to support an event that brings communities together, celebrates youth achievement and helps make sport accessible for everyone.

Erin Meisner has stepped into the ring and is training three times a week to prepare for Fight for the Cure, all in support of cancer care and research through The Ottawa Hospital Foundation.

“This fight is about the people you love. The ones who have faced cancer. The ones still fighting. And the ones we want to protect. While training is hard, cancer is harder.”

Erin's goal is to raise $75,000 for this important cause.

They say first impressions matter. When Frederick Pratt Jr. picked up a golf club for the very first time at 14, he ended up beating every other first-timer on the course.
