National Day for Truth and Reconciliation | September 30
On September 30, we pause to recognize the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation and to honour the children who never returned home, the Survivors of residential schools, their families, and the generations of Indigenous Peoples who continue to carry the impacts of these institutions.
Truth and reconciliation require more than acknowledgement. They ask us to listen, to learn, to reflect honestly on our shared history, and most importantly, to consider the responsibility each of us carries in building a better future.
At Maximus Rose Living Benefits Inc., through our Indigenous Workplace Wellness Program, we believe workplaces have an important role to play in reconciliation. Creating meaningful change begins with relationships built on respect, understanding, cultural safety, and a genuine commitment to Indigenous voices, knowledge, leadership, and ways of being.
For us, reconciliation is not something recognized on a single day.
It is reflected in how we build relationships.
It is reflected in how we support our employees and communities.
It is reflected in whose voices we make space for.
And it is reflected in the actions we choose to take long after September 30 has passed.
As an organization, we are grateful for the Indigenous communities, leaders, Elders, Knowledge Keepers, organizations, families, and individuals who continue to share their knowledge, experiences, and strength with us.
On this day, we encourage our colleagues, partners, clients, and community members to take time to listen and learn, to participate in local opportunities for reflection, and to consider what reconciliation can look like within their own workplaces, organizations, families, and relationships.
We recognize that there is still much work ahead. We also recognize that meaningful reconciliation is built through consistent actions, authentic relationships, accountability, and a willingness to keep learning.
Today we remember. We honour. We listen. And we recommit ourselves to walking forward together.
Every Child Matters.
