Crime (theft) risk shows up in 267 of 517 Ontario FSAs but it's one of the smallest drivers of your premium. Wind/hail hits 35.4% of Ontario postal codes.

System backup—water damage from sewage backing up through drains or sump pump failure—threatens another 32.5%.

And where both overlap, insurers price the whole FSA—even neighbours who've never filed a claim. The weather risk on your street is everyone's problem.

Over 95% of Ontario neighbourhoods have a low-risk profile—but the 5% that don't tell a striking story. Where wind/hail and system backup—damage caused by backed-up sewer pipes or sump pumps—overlap (about 7% of FSAs), costs compound.

The provincial average is $2,235/yr in 2026. High-risk areas like Cochrane sit 48.6% above that. How does your postal code compare?

Self-driving cars? Not just yet 🚗🤖

Only 13% of Canadians say they’d consider buying an autonomous vehicle in the next two years, while 65% aren’t interested. Safety concerns, a preference to drive, lack of trust, and cost are what's keeping adoption slow, even as real-world data shows fewer serious crashes.

So, what will change minds? Experts say driverless tech may come first as a service, not a purchase.

5.6% more for climate-resilient homes? 🏠🌧️

Hail-resistant roofs and flood protection are adding up to $50K in value in cities like Toronto and Calgary. But the real question isn’t whether these upgrades protect homes (they do); it’s whether homeowners and agents will start highlighting them in listings to unlock their full value.

56% of Canadians interested in EVs would consider a Chinese-built model like BYD or Chery, attracted by competitive pricing, openness to emerging brands, and strong performance. 🚗🌏

With more lower-cost EVs entering the market this year, the question isn’t whether Canadians are interested — it’s whether these options can close the country’s EV affordability gap.

EV interest is rising — but big concerns remain. While 30% of Canadians say they’d consider buying an EV, most still worry about:

💸 Purchase price (59%)
🔋 Driving range (54%)
🛠️ Repair & maintenance costs (45%)

Only 6% say they have no concerns at all. So, while EV curiosity is growing — price and practicality still hold the keys to adoption. 🔑🔌
