They ask why I do insurance. Real answer?
I wanted to fill the gap that I saw in my community 🤞🏿

When I went looking for coverage, the gap was:

🔍 Nobody who was working within my community with expertise.
🗣️ Nobody taking the time to educate people on their options.

So I stopped waiting for that person — and became him.

Then: Making sure my loved ones no longer needed to figure it out alone. 🙌🏿

Education became the cornerstone of how I would assist my generation with passing down positivity, not turmoil 🤞🏿

When I first started in insurance, some my toughest conversations were with my Nigerians. 🇳🇬

And it wasn’t always about the money. It was the mindset:

🗣️ “Nobody helped me and I turned out fine — so you’ll be fine.”

I understand teaching certain lessons, but within reason.

The facts are…
✅ “We’ll be fine” works… until the one time it doesn’t
✅ Surviving the struggle isn’t a reason to pass it down
✅ Legacy > hustle — protection is the help we never got

Before insurance, I was working a call center job at Rogers and I absolutely hated it!!

Here’s what that season looked like:
😩 Hours that didn’t match my life
🎧 An environment that drained me before I even sat down
📉 A ceiling I could feel but couldn’t see

I was just trying to get through the shift every time I stepped in the building.

But that discomfort did something for me — it pushed me to start looking for better. Not because I had it all figured out, but because staying comfortable in something that wasn’t working stopped being an option.

That search is what eventually led me into insurance.

Funny how the job you hate ends up being the push you needed. 🙏

For me? Scale back with MORE travel. Mortgage-free, ~$7K/month after tax, for 35 years.

Nobody told me these were “immigrant things.” I just thought this was life. 🇨🇦✈️

🏠 Changing into house clothes the second you got home — outside clothes were sacred.
⏰ Arriving at the airport 3 hours early. Every. Single. Time. (Still do it honestly.)
🍔 Asking for McDonald’s in the car and getting hit with “We have food at home.”

Being raised in an immigrant household gave me habits I thought were universal — until I got older and realized they were actually a whole culture of their own.

And honestly? I wouldn’t trade it. It’s where my discipline, my gratitude, and my work ethic came from.
