Business owners are some of the most disciplined investors I know.
Just not in their own name.
Everything goes back into the business. More staff. Better equipment. Growth. Whatever the business needs it gets funded because the returns feel real and immediate.
Personal investing gets whatever is left. Which over many years tends to add up to less than anyone intended.
The thinking makes sense early on. The business is the priority. The opportunity is there. Personal wealth can wait.
Except waiting has a compounding cost too. Just one that doesn't show up on any statement until the question becomes urgent.
What I see with the business owners who feel most secure is that at some point they made a decision to treat their personal financial life as non negotiable alongside the business. Not a lower priority. Not what gets funded after everything else. An equal commitment.
The amounts don't have to be dramatic. The consistency is what matters.
Because the business creates the income. Personal wealth is what creates the options.
And options are what give you control over how the story ends.
