It's been said that building a business isn't a straight line. The ups and downs of building a start-up have been the most challenging and rewarding chapters of my life. Like a rollercoaster, the intensity of feeling has run the gamut - stomach-turning, eye-closed, blood-pumping fear and excitement.
Lucky for me, I've had the great fortune of working with an amazing team (Mark Levitan, Karen Radic, Caitlin Carter, Tanya Romanuk, Joe Petralito, and Sumit Garg), who get up every day and strap in for the ride. Emotional highs, down-turns, and dips - burning the midnight oil has been part & parcel of this entrepreneurial journey.
But we're winning. Gaining momentum.
We're doing hard things that not only create impact for our clients, but are changing the status quo. And, despite a very broken market of high interest lenders, payday loans and credit counselling companies, we've created a product that offers our customers hope.
We like to say that Parachute is a loan with purpose - and for me, it's personal.
I am our client - a kid who 30 years ago (with a commerce degree!) found himself on the other side of a failed business, bad advice, and declaring bankruptcy. A poor financial decision that followed me throughout my career.
But there's no shame in that - or at least there shouldn't be - and that's why Parachute was created. We offer the canopy to help Canadians land on their financial feet.
I want to thank our friends at Intuit for sharing my story with their community. It offers a little background as to why I do this - and hopefully, it's a little reminder that together we can get financially well. (www.myparachute.co)
