Today is International Day of Rural Women. In Canada, women now make up 30% of farm operators (roughly 80,000 farmers nationwide) the first increase in that number in three decades. And the number of women running farms with over $2 million in annual revenue has grown by more than 80%.

For a long time, women's work on the farm got filed under "help" rather than leadership. That's changing, and it's about time. Today we're recognizing the rural women driving Canadian agriculture forward.
