Today, we honour the Survivors of residential schools, remember the children who never returned home, and recognize the families and communities who continue to be impacted.

May today be a time to listen, learn, reflect, and support meaningful reconciliation.

Before buying equipment for the tax deduction, ask yourself one question:

Will this actually help my business?

A tax deduction is a bonus but it shouldn't be the reason you make a purchase.

Whether it's new technology, equipment, vehicles, or systems that improve efficiency, make sure the investment supports your business goals first.

We are incredibly proud to support this amazing curling team! Our owner, Nadia has loved curling since she was little, often watching it from the comfort of her Grampa's armchair. Now, we get to support an amazing team of local business owners, teachers, and women athletes who are passionate about their sport.

We are so excited to cheer on Team Despins as they sweep their way to the Scotties!

We are incredibly excited to welcome back Signature Financial as our returning partner and Title Sponsor for another season! 🥌💙

Signature Financial is a Thunder Bay-based accounting firm that has been helping entrepreneurs and businesses take control of their finances for decades. Founded in 1997, the firm was built around a simple idea: business owners should be able to focus on running their businesses while having a trusted team take care of the numbers behind the scenes.

Their services go far beyond traditional bookkeeping. Signature Financial provides full-cycle accounting, bookkeeping, corporate year-end and T2 preparation, payroll services, personal tax preparation, accounting system setup and catch-up work, as well as fractional CFO and Controller services for businesses looking for higher-level financial support.

Whether a business is just getting started, trying to get caught up, preparing for year-end, or looking for ongoing financial guidance, Signature Financial helps take the accounting burden off business owners so they can get back to doing what they do best. They also offer their services to clients beyond Thunder Bay, bringing that same personalized approach to businesses across Canada.

We are especially excited to continue this partnership because Signature Financial has been a returning partner of Team Despins, and this season they are continuing as our Title Sponsor. Having a local, community-minded business continue to believe in our team and our journey means so much to us.

Thank you, Signature Financial, for your continued support and for investing in women’s sport. We are incredibly proud to have your name alongside ours this season and can’t wait to represent you on the ice! 🙌🥌💙

Receipts in your inbox. Expenses on three different cards. A few purchases you're pretty sure were for the business. 😅

Keeping expenses organized throughout the year makes bookkeeping and tax time a whole lot easier.

Business owners, we want to know 👇

Which one gives you the most trouble?

That business loan deposit hit your account. Great news.

Just don't record it as income. 👀

A business loan is money you owe, so it belongs on your Balance Sheet as a liability. Your payments also need to be split correctly between principal and interest.

Small bookkeeping detail? Yes. Big difference in the accuracy of your reports? Also yes.

If you're not sure your business loans have been recorded correctly, send us a message. We can take a look.
